Rules Discussion / Re: Tsunami, can we change how its push works?
« on: June 16, 2018, 12:16:24 AM »
to exid, you listed 3 bullet points on a post. I have a concern about number 3. You are saying a wall with passage block trait prevents tsunami from going further, which makes since. Or are u saying if a wall which blocks line of sight but allows passage would also end the tsunami because now the spell is 'out of sight.' I agree with the first one, tsunami goes until it hits a blocking wall, like the arena border or wall of stone. but to say the spell ends because LoS is preventing the spell from casting on the zone feels off. if u could maybe set up a situation where that would be the case.
my number 3 was ill written: a wall that let the passage open (with or without attack) but blocs LoS ends the tsunami.

example:
- ABC are three zones in a row, i'm in A, there's a wall of thorns between B and C.
- I cast a tsunami on B in the direction of C. my opponent 's bear is hit and pushed in C, hit by the wall.
- I could now repeat the attack on C... but I need a LoS to make an attack (step 1) and the wall blocs LoS, so my tsunami ends.

the push must go "away", so if you want to make a 4 hits tsunami, the caster must be in the first zone...

i think its a "not so good" card, because
1) you don't allways find the right opportunity to cast it with 4 free-of-your-own-objets zones behind
2) the push can miss
3) if the wall with passage trait blocs LoS the Tsunami ends

50
3) if you have multiple multiple attacks (BF and sweeping)... but i think we don't have the cards to make that happen...
What’s wrong with casting sweeping strike and battle fury on deptonne berserker when there is something bleeding in the zone?
right... ok... my vision of the situation:
the shark has double strike
the attack gains sweeping if full action
there's one more quick attack
-> the shark can use a full action to make double strike on a first creature and double strike on a second creature, after that he can make a double strike on any creature -> TOTAL = 6 strikes

51
we have different interpretations here!

1) badger frenzy is a special case, i read it as Jacksmack does: there can be many "next attacks" until the enchantment is destroyed.

2) if there is multiple attacks (BF or sweeping), each attack has an additional strike step, i think each attack should get the additional strike.

3) if you have multiple multiple attacks (BF and sweeping)... but i think we don't have the cards to make that happen...

52
Make sense?
euh... i'm lost...

i understand the traits, that have a step to make a loop.
but why double strike before sweeeping? (why coudn't i strike once the first creature and two times the second?)

now, BF makes a new attack in the attack action. is it written somewhere that the traits apply only for the first attack?

last, with badger frenzy, i can't see why it woudn't give double strike to both of BF's attack, since both are "the next" at turn.

53
;D
when you make an attack ACTION, you get one more attack for the doublestrike and one more attack for the sweeping.
but i'm not sure...

and with battle fury?
since the 2 attacks are part of the same attack action, is it right that a doublestrike or sweeping trait wold only add 1 attack (not 1 attack for each BF's attack)?

54
Some traits, such as Triplestrike, allow the attacker to make
additional attacks against the same target. Once the first
strike is finished, you get to make these additional strikes.

Each additional strike is resolved, one at a time, following
these 4 steps: Roll to Miss, Avoid Attack, Roll Dice, Damage
and Effects.

Note: All of these strikes are still part of the same attack
action, and the defender will still only get one damage
barrier attack and one counterstrike!

After the final strike is resolved, proceed to Step 8.

So the attack has both the sweeping and doublestrike traits; you resolve each additional attack one at a time at a legal target for that additional attack.
oups... i answered to quickly...
so, the extra attacks allways apply on attack action?

55
"once this round" on sweeping strike.
so, the shark gets the sweeping on one strike and normal on the other strike.

56
with shifratar, i would say that if you pay mana for the first of BF's attacks, you get sweeping on the first, and if you pay for the second you get sweeping for the second (and you have to pay 2x3 mana to have 4 attacks).

57
Badger frenzy is an enchantment, that makes the difference: it will stay on the creature.
that's why both of the battlefury's attacks are, one after the other, "the next attack" and get the double strike.

General Discussion / Re: The biggest problem MW has: rule-uncertainty
« on: June 06, 2018, 03:41:45 AM »

#1: Those people who were really bothered by it left long ago

#2: "Casual players" who are bound to have more trouble with the rules are not actively reading here

#3: Even people who admit that the rules are too complex by using easier house-rules vote for "nah, not to complex" to show off or sth.
and some people like comlicate rules!

I didn't vote, because I think that a few rules are too complicate (i.e. bad ratio fun brought/complication) but that it's not a big problem, and no item said that.

That's very interesting for me: i play to win, but nearly never competitive. I try to make create spellbooks that have a chance, but not too "closed"... for example i play defensives priestress but never built a turtle...
the bad design you mention is perhaps the reason why MW is really a game for me!

agree with DV!
but a long game has to bring book surprises and space/movement tactics (no pure turtle!).
