2. I think "you" is the controler.
if another mage removes a counter, nothing happens.

62
so... was I right?

if the mage is attacked and killed, he will not counterstrike but his barrier will attack.
or somehow els?

63
no counter strike if you're dead.
(but a damage barier would do it!)

and how do you get these promos? pre-comand of the next arena expansion?

65
this rules item seems a bit much of a tempest in a teapot. there are very few places the rules could be an issue. and those are mostly rare circumstances generally. so this is overblown imo. the rules are overwhelmingly solid.
;D
that was the classic AW answer when I tried to make them fix effectively these rules problems a few years ago!

I really don't like to stop a game because we arrive on one of these few situations.

I do not know how the translated versions of MW are since I only played the English version, perhaps that plays a big part in rule-uncertainty?
the translated versions of MW were very badly supported... that's another reason why MW didn't grew more: a lot of people don't read enough english to play in original version (for example kids, who don't have enough money to buy minis and would be happy to have a card version of a mini game!).

Isn’t this rules and tricks thing much like the existing supplement?
the supplement should be upgraded regularly...

67
no revealing during upkeep, but just befor upkeep is possible.
during upkeep, the player A with initiative can make the player B take the last dissipate off one of his cards befor the card affects A.

I like these initiative questions. not the timinig part, but the fact that I have to think on what round I cast a spell to take the most advantage from it.

68
i like complex rules. but the complexity have to bring fun.
i think a few MW rules are too detailed for the fun they bring (i mentioned for example the many conditions for the same "critical wound" or "loosing capacities" effect)... how to simplify them without loosing all the fun?

some rules should be clarified or rewritten (initiative, cards interactions,...).
there was an "official supplement", i think it's a necessary tool for MW. AW used to upgrade it, it disappeared with there investment in this game. I write my own, with items i find in the rules section and home made rules for what's left.

General Discussion / Re: The current state of MW

imunity is a heavy file... i think at a fire imune creature that can't intercept a fire attack.
but it seems normal that a fire imune creature can't get fire spells! (a poison imune creature with a poison curse would be too powerfull!).
I think that making the imunity otpionnal would make the game more complex, it's the wrong direction.

another file I see is the conditions: too many conditions to have a bad injury (bleed, rot, burn,...), too many conditions to lose capacities (daze, stun, sleep, slam,...)

i don't know Borg, i don't know if he just wrote to anger some of us from his new mtg comunity... it isn't very important for me...

what is, is to know where we go.
nobody here seems to know (or to be autorized to speak) and the AW bosses are silent. we open topics about "what news?", "what state?", "what could we do to help?", bring comments, ideas, insults, but we don't go anywhere!

the end of edition isn't the end of a game, people play chess and i'm quite sure it's creator is dead for a few years!
i stil have a lot of ideas for new books with the current cards, but i like some new opening from time to time to boost my imagination, and not to know if lost grimoir was the last expension or if we should hav a beautifull surprise in one more year or two is bad for my spirit.

wow  ???
out for the w-e (a few MW with a friend in south france)... it wasn't as hot as here!
do realy Borg's words make the reality? i'm affraid he is right in his conclusions (even if i'm not sure that BBG's numbers are the best argument), but it isn't his fault!

Jacksmack, you say the rules are to intricate and that AW doesn't give answer about rules problems fast enough, i agree with that.
but what i can't answer is: which rules to simplifie without loosing the perfect MW taste? i'm sure a lighter reboot would bring more player but i would probably not follow (wasn't academy an attempt to do this?).

72
This has two additional very negative results imo
1- games take way too long to play out as books usually have cherrypick answers to almost every situation.
2- the different schools mean nothing outside the bookbuilding phase as any mage can freely cherrypick and cast any spell he likes ( in Mage and a strategy for him tacked on.

that's fun: I like these two aspects in MW!
1) to win you have to find a way your opponent won't have thought about
2) you can surprise your opponent, always thinking of what your mage can add to another mage's cards

73
MW isn't popular enough to bring AW a lot of money, I agree with that. I can understand if AW stops editing MW to work and invest on profitable games.

But if they love their game and would like to see it grow further, there could be a way between kickstarter and delegation, mixing Cornelius and bigfatchef ideas. I think we are enough fan players wishing to give money and time for MW.

74
I don't like minis either... but I like any idea that could make AW unbury MW!
