I would love to see some kind of custom mage building option. You can create a mage using 4 points. There is a list of traits you can choose from each costing some amount. For example, 1 point to master a school, 2 points for the second school, -1 point to have triple cost from a school, 1 point for some mage skill.

The spell book combinations would increase dramatically.

Bryan already did this but what we have now is what that system evolved into. The mages you see now were the most popular builds from back then. Someday he may bring it back but only time will tell.
