so thanks to puddnhead for the meditation amulet turn one then meditate idea. it birthed this book which has been fairly successful. 2-1 to be exact. first game was against sharkbait playing an experimental adramelech warlock which was a close game but i ended up with the win, game 2 was the alfiya version in which i cant remember who i faced but alfiya overwhelmed my opponents araxian crown warlock for the win, game three was against biblofilter's araxian crown warlock and after a 2 hour and 45 min match, an extreme misplay on my part resulted in a loss. i had killed his mheggedan and goran and had out 4 light of dawns, metatron with 3 temples, ehren at full health, and a cassiel. i over-extend with my mage resulting in an 8 dice attack from a mage staff and a flameblast, and he ended it with a fireball on fqc (i tele'd away instead of healing,it was my initative, i know im dumb) but a well deserved win on biblos part. in each game i meditated 5+ times at least (cant remember exactly definitely more just playing it safe with because im sure of 5).

here is the opening
R1- 19 mana- meditation amulet + meditate
R2- 27 mana- meditate + crusade banner
R3- 32 mana + 2 from banner- deploy alandell and artemis + cast Dawnbreakers initiate
R4- 9 mana- Meditate + cast temple of asyra (pray with DB initiate and maybe artemis)

after that you start deploying Light of dawns. if they rush you they have to deal with alandell and artemis and you can change the game plan accordingly, if they turtle then you have time to setup, Artemis and Light of Dawns are clerics and can pray to temple of asyra (can only pray to the temple twice total a turn).

whole idea is to play malikai's basilica and steep hill with the Light of Dawns on it. (5 dice 10+ stun range 1 attack)  in almost every game i found myself taking care of the threats then the mage. not sure how it would fair in a timed event first two game werent too horribly long (hour to hour an a half).

noteable cards considered- Divine intervention (mainly to tp opponent into position), purge or destroy magic, joseph trublood, mage or elemental wand, surging wave
cards in the book that have gone in and out- battle forge(plan b maybe?), resplendent bow, metatron

feedback is appreciated :)

Edit: there is an alfiya version which deploys an alfiya and a DB initiate from crusade banner, also working on a Disciple of Radiance version.

Put in 1+ Consegrated Ground.

And good old Hand of Bim-Shalla.

I like passive healing, and you have Metatron!

Im not sure you need Battleforge, because you have all the time in the world.

Great idea, not only the deck, but the possibility to play this way by introducing just one or two amulets in the deck. Against necro or similar one maybe wants a more aggresive approach, but having this option for 2-4 SP is a great assset.

I will begin opening some space for the amulet in my paladin deck... the other tools I already wear them.

Thanks for sharing.

Great deck. I really enjoy how you pray first and cast stuff later instead of the other way around. I dont know if this is feasible with other mages since they dont have crusade banner

Halewijn- Well that why when the idea was thrown around I immediately thought paladin because you are saving two actions with crusade banner and because you have so much mana you can drop three creatures in one turn.

Pritoos- yeah it allows for very versatile play not only from a in game stand point but also a book building stand point as there are so many creature combos you can deploy off the crusade banner thinking about building a unicorn swarm version too).

Biblofilter- I wrestled with the idea of consecrated ground but cut it for the second steep hill. Should probably make room for it. As for hand of him I already have quite a few zone exclusive and cassiel does a great job of healing :)

You want the Hand of Bim-Shalla to buff Metatron & Temple of Light even more. It's a cheap temple and it's flexibility is awesome. Based on my count, you only have 4-5 zone exclusives since I assume you don't plan on having both Battle Forge & Temple of Asyra out early.

The problem doesn't lie in the amount of zone exclusives but moving to cast them. And out of the three games ive only cast metatron once. But o'well I gotta give the people what they want

Note - you have the same Round 3 mana and options if you simply drop the amulet and cast Crusade Banner on Round 1. This gives you more positional options by using move actions before placing the banner. For example, when moving second in the first round this opening provides you the option to position the banner aggressively into the far center and then guard it from Melee attack or cast it conservatively with more distance between the creatures and opponents in Round 3.

You would have the same mana after you meditated on turn 3 so you could not cast a 5 mana cleric on turn three which is very important for the late temple of asyra ( having the option to pray twice on turn 4 or once in case you need to defend against aggression with Artemis).

So basically if I don't meditate turn one I couldn't drop 3 creatures on turn 3.

here is an update this book has been preforming really well. I have about 20 or so games with it since i last posted about it. it defends well against rush and in a timed format can out value opponents. in a non timed format it can be out lasted if properly played against. its no where near perfect yet so feel free to dissect it and tell me what you think :)

I disagree, have a book that works for you and as long as you are winning then damp what others think.

You say in your first post, that you meditate at least 5 times a game. How often do you meditate in your later games? It might be considering, (ab)using remove curse instead.
The amulett is 4sbps and after 4 uses you get 12 mana, but pay 4, so you get 8 mana for 5 actions.
For one more spell point you can use 5 remove curse to get 10 mana for 5 actions.
Also you never have the problem that you carry dead weight if you cannot afford to meditate for some reason. And having 5 or 6 remove curse will make many dark mages cry.

Of course if you actually do use it 6 times or more, than the amulett is better.

I dig the Remove Curse idea Bubu! Meditation Amulet only costs 2sbps for the Paladin. so you would spend 2 sbp vs 4 sbp for Remove Curse. The Remove Curse could be done as well with Cassiel, while the Paladin Meditates for some serious mana :D

Also I think it's important to point out that the 5 actions for Remove Curse is 5 full actions, while the meditation is 1 qc and 4 Full.

I'm confused. Can you cast remove curse if there are no curses attached?
