So first of, why a priest?

Priest: The priest has a build in 5+ daze attack which is my main reason to choose him. Burns are a nice addition and clerics are pretty decent holy avengers.
HOWEVER: The 9 channeling hurts bad in this deck since the dragon + all light attacks (clerics + light attack spells + burn addition + temple of light (cast + attack) + Pillar or light + ...) are very expensive! Also one of the big reasons I am a huge supporter of "channeling 10 priest-errata".

Priestess: With her you could drop healing spells, save spellbook points, and maybe even drop Cassiel. Most importantly, she has channeling 10 too. All in all, I think she would actually be better for this book than the priest.

Paladin: His solar aura is pretty amazing and the best reason to pick him over the priest. (that and his paladin only equipment). However, he also only has 9 channeling and will need to cast the sword of radiance  which is also pretty expensive. It could be worth it to try him out, but I think he's not the best choice.

Strengths of this book:

- Very good economy so you will probably be able to out-turtle other players.
- Alfiya can be activated during the same turn she is cast. This way you can delay casting her until the opponent has reached you. This is also very helpful when the opponent suddently charges at you.
- many dazes/stuns to bug the opponent
- Alfiya's attack is amazing!

Weaknesses:
- Alfiya cannot activate at the start of a turn. You always need a praying cleric first
- Once you lose clerics, you cannot activate alfiya anymore and it's VERY hard/impossible to get back on your feet unless you have enough other creatures out. I have learned the hard way that protecting the clerics is very important.
- In addition, the Temple of asyra needs 2 mana to spawn a creature. The plan was that the clerics would pray for it in order to spawn a creature every round. This proved to be pretty hard since they also need to activate alfiya. because of this I have decided to add Harmonize in this latest iteration. However, this does slow you down even more.
- Necromancer (+ anti-swarm wizard in lesser extend): [mwcard=MW1J19]Deathlock[/mwcard] & [mwcard=MW1J11]Idol of Pestilence[/mwcard] are devestating. This forces you to attack it since all your clerics will die very fast. This deck is very bad at charging to the opponent. The main idea now is, whenever I see a necromancer, I don't cast the temple of asyra and try to win with my major guys for a buddy game. However, with this plan B strategy, I have many dead spellbookpoints.
- This deck is pretty good against creatures but conjurations seem to be harder to deal with (no daze or stun) + this makes the previous point worse.

Feedback and tips how to counter the weaknesses are very much appreciated.

i ran a book like this in the admw against shark and he two shot alfyia :( but i ran priestess and summoned alfyia turn 2, turn one was a dawnbreakers initiate, after the second turn i would summon light of dawns. ive only played two matches with the book and in both i had bad matchups so i dont have much info to give. imo though i think that priestess is the way to go with this book due to the fact that you have +1 channel and are able to support alfiya more while casting the light of dawns.

edit: i would cut 2 breastplates add an elemental wand to cast pillars for daze/stun causing extra direct from alfyia. also would cut joseph for metatron as you have 4 temples and 10 clerics are plenty it seems

Also I would add more remove Curse. When playing against non-curse mages you or cassiel can cast it and giving you 2 mana

How often do you usually meditate?
Meditation amulett is 4 sbps
If you meditate 4 times you gain 12-4=8 Mana and 4 Full + 1 Quick action
Using 4 Remove Curse also costs 4 sbps and gives you 8 Mana for 4 Full actions.

If you meditate more often the amulett might be worth it.

If you can fit in divine intervention that might be good as well. Save the dragon, kidnap the enemy mage, cancel a deathlock, ...

Hi Halewijn,

Looking at that specific weakness :

You already have the answer to the Idol : Consecrated Ground.

That leaves Deathlock to take care of : throw an Acid Ball at it followed up by a Force Hammer, preferably with Akiro's Favor in place to have a reroll ready. ( thus suggesting to replace Hurl Boulder with Force Hammer )

I also think Alfiya just begs for a couple of Battle Fury's to be included.
Way more powerful imo than Pillar of Light and Sunfire Burst for the same mana cost.

Looking at your creatures :
Alfiya : 24 mana
Artemis : 14 mana
Trublood : 12 mana
3x Light of dawn : 9 mana
Cassiel : 9 mana
Messenger : 9 mana

That's extremely costly all together, you may want to look at some cheaper options like more Initiates or Asyran Defenders or Knights of the Red Helm.

I don't know why you included Trublood and the Messenger of Bim-Shalla. Cut them ?

Meditation Amulet does not fit this strategy imo.
I'd rather have another Staff of Asyra and go on offense.
After all, Alfiya is not a creature to sit back with, you've got to take it to the opponent. Initiates are good at that.
And if you want to make use of your Lay Hands you better stay close to Alfiya.

I really like the breastplate and I want to keep my priest on 2 armor. (rhino hide is for creatures) Corrode will most likely be countered by re-casting the equipment or cure. I generally don't cast the staff since it is very expensive. I don't see myself spending mana and actions on a second one. I mostly only bring it out when the opponent has undead creatures.

Elemental wand costs 4 spb (+5 mana and an action) while pillars cost 1. I'd rather add more pillars than add a wand.

Metatron was originally in there but I swapped him for Joseph. Mainly because he "fits tematically" and because I really want to try him out. healing 2 dice for free or battling against undead is pretty nice. I'll probably re-swap him for metatron.

What would you remove for guardian angel? Currently I only have 4 level 1 clerics, so if anything I'd want to add 1 or 2 extra of them too.

I think I pray at least 2 times and at most 5-6 times. Depending on the aggression of the opponent. I might think about dropping it, but I need it to get mana fast at the beginning of the game to summon Alfiya. How would you guys get spend your opening assuming you want to be able to summon Alfiya at latest turn 4?

I have cut DI because it's expensive to use and costs 3 spellbookpoints. One of the first holy books where I didn't include it... I don't think I'll re-add it.

Damn... Good idea! I totally didn't think about that. Akiro's favor (2x) & battle fury (2x) makes paladin more appealing though..

my alfyia book required me to play priestess because i needed channel 10. plus doing it this way she is able to activate on turn two

turn one dawnbreakers initiate + no QC
turn two alfyia + no QC
turn three start whatever strategy you want to follow her up with or invest a turn into protecting her (arcane ward, block, etc.)
i think that waiting to cast her later is too slow. so in a casual game i think its ok but most of the time in a competitive game i dont think you'd have enough time. i could be wrong because its just my opinion and havent tested it though.

as for the breast plate i have played 20+ games with my priest since PvS came out and not once was my breastplate dissolved but to each his own. leathers (pants, etc.) would be a nice allocation of points if you cut even one of the breast plates and you got a point with just adding more pillars its something i generally overlook

i wouldnt run two DB rings either id find a way to add hawkeye and maybe gloves of skill. staff of asyra is over priced imo would much rather just take bear strength you pay 4 more mana for a better daze stun chance. your mage already has a daze and it isnt to hard to hit with basilica and akiro's

overall i think its a fun concept and would love to see you play it sometime. also this made me realize i could run alfyia in the paladin i just built and tested against shark, that book is in the mage cast thread if you wanna see it

I like the disciple of radiance a lot. I run 3 DoR, 2 LoD, 1 Artemis, 1 Cassiel.

Possible Openings

19: Temple + Harmonize = 5
14 +2: DoR + Remove Curse + Basilika = 8
17 +2: DoR + Remove Curse + Enchantment= 14
21+3: Dragon

But this is quite risky. With priestess you could swap one DoR with LoD in the opening what would give you enough defenses with the basilika for the first few moments.

If you can wait one more round you could go

19: Temple + Harmonize = 5
14 +2: LoD + Remove Curse + Basilika = 4
13+2: DoR + Remove Curse + Enchantment= 10
19+3: DoR + Remove Curse + Hand of BS = 14
23+4: Dragon + Dawnbreaker Ring =0

Note that you can immediately activate the dragon with one DoR, the other one can put Mana on temple and LoD + Dragon + Mage can attack with basilika whatever dared to come to you.

I'd want to have her out asap but not if it makes you lose quick actions.
Making the most of every action, especially in the early game, is the foundation for success.
You want every action to be meaningful and making your situation better.
So, Alfiya on R3 (with the ability to already activate on R3) seems to be the quickest possible summon while cashing in on all your actions.

R1-19 FD Rhino Hide - Wispwillow Amulet ( Armor & Mana )
R2-24 Disciple of Radiance - Glancing Blow on DoR ( Engine & Protection )
R3-27 Alfiya - Akiro's Favor

You're ready to go at that point, I'd say.

Would have to try how good it is. usually I want a surplus of clerics to keep the dragon active, but what do the other clerics do without temple to put mana on?
Going on DoR and full LoD from that point on would be possible however.

Also one might consider early Cassiel with the option of her using Remove Curse to generate mana if there are other clerics for the boss dragon

honestly i think that a turn 4 or 5 temple isnt that bad as you have alfyia active turn 3.

so to elaborate on borgs opening (mana fluctuates depending on if you reveal akiros)

R4- 10-11 mana- FD enchant on alfyia (arcane ward maybe?) + Db initiate or DoR
R5- 13-14 mana- temple + Gaurd/move or FD enchant???
R6- 12-14 mana- deploy another cleric + set malakias basilica + something else (cast another 5 mana cleric if you dont cast something on the previous turn?)

i generally avoid harmonize i think that 4 mana plus a QA could be spent better else where. also most spawn points are good enough without it plus if you cast a late temple it just takes that much longer to pay for itself and youll already have a cleric to pray to it. 6 rounds into the game seems like a long time to plan out but generally they are going to have a dragon in there face and you will have time. if they turtle you will be able to start stacking mana on your temple and will be able to build an army. if they rush you they will be met with an alfyia (johktari is a different situation) but i wouldnt cast temple and instead cast basilica make stun chance better and another cleric to ensure alfyia gets to act
