Zot competed.
i played badly. sorry to say i was not much competition this year. unlike three of the last four years where i was playing in the last match for the win. first time not making finals in any of the events i have entered. sigh.
i was not able to make up my mind on what mage to play until literally the morning of the qualifiers. never a good sign. i was not overally happy with my build and not comfortable playing it. i settled on a wizard thinking it would still feel about the same flowi wise, it did not, and my games were very unfocused. it has been three years since playing air wizard. could not get the flow working right. symptom of indecision about getting a mage built and playing matches to tune it. as it ended up that in my final qualifier match who ever won it would get a spot in the finals. i played poorly and my opponent played well, and ended up winning.
griz is correct that there were some great matches, and stellar play. the four finalists certainly earned their position and i know tomorrow will again see some great matches. good luck to each of them.
feel for those who could not be here gencon is awesome. hopefully next year more of you can make it. it will be gencon 50th anniversary year. should be spectacular event.
