We need a giant one zone arena for Academy on OCTGN. People have been using the 2x3 which doesn't look as good with academy being played on it.

I can add the old "no board" option back in easily enough if that would help.

Known issue, this will be fixed with the upcoming point release. Just working at a couple of other issues first.

I don't use it to play, just as a deckbuilder. Maybe it's fantastic to play with - but as a DeckBuilder it's waaay sub-optimal compared to MtG applications we had even 10-12 years ago.

It's the best we have for MW, but it's average at best.

No I don't believe so at all. A deckbuilder is a deckbuilder.

The Magic ones were ported over to many other games successfully.

In my opinion, Octgn is mainly a program that succeeds in managing many of the very complex rules, steps and effects of a magewars game. It does so extremely well!
It needs a card database to work, so it is no wonder that a deckbuilder is included. Without knowing I guess 95% of all effort goes into gameplay automatics and optimization.
The spellbookbuilder is also the best there is and is good to use. Even though it is maybe more or less just an add-on.
I see no reason in hating anything here! I see a lot of reasons to say thank you to sIKE and ACG and who ever spends precious time and energy in making a platform like Octgn possible!
What I hate are people who hate around without a constructive background. Maybe I am too sensitive in that point...

Yes 30 years vs. 3 years. Apples and Oranges. Magic is the biggest CCG there is with lots of money around it. Mage Wars in comparison is quite small. So yeah Apples and Oranges. The second piece is this is unofficial, the card data falls within the fair use doctrine (mostly) but the card art does not. The solution is to split one from the other. If the site hosting the card images gets a take down order from the copyright holder, the game itself on OCTGN is not broken. Its not optimal, agreed but I document the heck out of all of this in both the Changelog and here: http://octgngames.com/magewars/install-2/

I honestly have no insight on Magic Card Deckbuilders, but what I can tell you is this one will let you sort/search/filter on practically anything piece of card data contained on the cards (I do not have any of the flavor text in card data set but why would you want to search on Flavor text any ways?). I find this aspect of the deckbuilder make's it head and shoulders better than what else is currently available. If you (or anyone else) would like to see the game engine and deckbuilder get better the best way to do that is to become an OCTGN subscriber, otherwise it is free and it is what is....

I hope the mages get added soon as well, so I can start building academy decks.
