Mandantory Reveal but no mana
« on: December 18, 2012, 06:14:37 PM »
Was playing today and this situation came up and I didn't see anything here about it.

My opponent had [strike]a creature out with a[/strike] the hidden trap, Hellfire Trap[strike] on it[/strike].  One my my creatures moved into it's zone, forcing him to pay the reveal cost of Hellfire Trap, but he did not have the 2 mana required to trigger the trap.

Since this spell requires you to reveal it and pay the cost, but he did not have any mana to pay for it, we decided that the spell is revealed but fails and goes to the discard pile.

Was this the correct course of action, or should it have not been revealed and kept on the board until it was triggered again when the mana was available?

Ooh yes my mistake.  It was in a zone, not on a creature.  Thanks!!

Anytime an enchantment is revealed you can choose whether or not to pay for it.  If it is revealed and you don't pay for it, then it is discarded without effect.  If you don't have enough mana to pay for the enchantment then you have to choose not to pay for it, and it is then discarded.
