Opposite sex mage cards
« on: December 07, 2012, 08:13:42 PM »
I would suggest that the mage cards have two sides with a male and female version of each mage type.  The stats and abilities card would remain the same, but just a different picture on each side of the avatar card.

this would actually be a pretty cool idea.  they can save the differing abilities for different styles of mage (which would each have a male/female card as well)   great idea!  i hope AW listens to this idea

Desirable, but technically difficult, given gender-based titles:

Example: What do you call a male priestess? You call him a priest, which, barring a broad-sweeping errata, means that the "priest" can't use "priestess-only" spells.

Example: What do you call a female warlock? You call her a witch, which, barring a broad-sweeping errata, means that the "witch" can't use "warlock-only" spells.

Insurmountable? No...

Problematic? Yes...

you could just say  they are cross dressers. Theoretically you could use any art you want to represent your mage as long as the correct stat card is used.

We've had a lot of feedback of this, and it's definitely something we're working towards. The hope is to release them as promos, or in organized play, or slip them into tradeshows or future core spell tomes.

Thank you for considering this. I really like the game but found the fixed distribution and rather stereotypical depiction of the men/women disappointing.  The idea to have a male mage on one side and a female mage of the same class on the other is great.

I also think this is a great idea, and you really don´t have to overthink it like nihil is doing.
Simply stating that the class is defined by the hero´s original gender would clear things without the need to relabel everything.

And then you just label the other´s gender picture accordingly like:
Witch - Female Warlock
Priest - Male Priestess
and so on.
So the normal written Name defines the class and the italic is to specify the gender.

I agree that they can be made and just an errata put out if necessary.  I don't see their having to be a whole change just to add a different sex mage.  Im sure most players would understand that if they select a male "priest" that the priestess cards would apply to him and so on.  I know I would play it the same with the added benefit of having more customization and so would my wife.

On another note, what about more mages (same class, different art)?

i dont see why everyone thinks a female warlock is a witch.

a female warlock is still a warlock, and a male witch is still a witch.

a warlock is someone who has bound themself to some form of demonic entity.

a witch has a far more inward magic of manipulation and illusion, usualy binding him or herself to a familiar (usualy against its will)

I would agree. Two different classes.

Im going to assume it was used as a connection while brain storming.(Since a male priest, a priestess does not make..........well, with a transmutation spell.........or a lot of money........or rule 63.....or, well, Im done.)
