It´s 2018 -- Any news?

It may be possible if they're non-staggered releases. Perhaps they'll do the vs sets like in Arena or as originally planned for Priestess/Warlock in Academy. I really hope that happens, but I don't necessarily think it will.

Also, they could be keeping the announcement back until copies are at port or even in their warehouse(s). Imagine an announcement just before, or even at GenCon. First mage out in September, one to follow each month thereafter. All out before 2019 (or close enough).

Not saying this will happen or that I think it will. Just saying its way too early to say it's no longer possible for 2018.

The problem is you want these sets out for convention season since that's when they'd sell best. Origins is a month away, GenCon is three. Dice Tower Con is two. And I'm not sure how big the WBC is but that's 2 1/2 months away. It just doesn't seem likely or feasible that anything of note is coming out this year.

WBC is a smaller convention focused on playing games rather than selling games. Here is a link to check out the event reports from 2017. You can see the range of events played plus open gaming is running 24x7 for all 9 days of the convention. Each event report identifies how many players entered the tournament that year. The Arena tournament had 23 players in 2017. We are entering our 4th year with attendance ranging from 18 to 29 players in each of the past years.

I think overall attendance runs about 1500 to 2500 players, but that is just my guess based on previous attendance records from several years back when the con was at a different location.

New stuff isn´t always good, but im amazed what Arcane Wonders has done with just a few cards:

Pillar of Righteous Flame
Its soo good it might just not be what we really wanted.
It does kind of help a lot vs Necro (and thats fine)
Suddenly you have an easy counter to
Zombie Brute
Devouring Jelly
Etheral, Incorperal
Flying, fast, charging like Falcons swarm or HA Griffin

Its one card that does a lot.

Meredias Blessing:
Druid hasnt gotten a lot, but boy Meredias Blessing is good for Druid (and for anyone with creature majority)

Minds Eye:
Completly change they way FM can play.
FM got a lot of stuff which i havnt really looked into. But i rarely play her and luckily i don´t face her that much.

Wizard:
He got nerfed. Job well done imo. We needed that.

Holy **** 
I think they overdid it. But lots of new shinning stuff

Battleground Domination:
Still feel new. Mostly because nobody plays it.
Kind of sad, but i think this one flopped.
If you want a fast game or want 3 player or team games then this is really good.
Still got some really nice cards for Arena.

Champions Gauntlets:
Again one card that completely has change stuff.
And just like FM i haven't really looked into the latest FM cards.

All great points Biblio! I’m so glad you are back and can’t wait to have some matches with you! 

The only major thing maybe you have forgotten is academy warlord stuff and it has drastically improved the Warlords options and power level.  It has also set the warlord apart from the paladin.   So much fun to be played with the expansion.

I like those new creatures which really doesn't change much.
