OCTGN Update with Priestess and Warlock Academy

Hello everyone,

The good news: You'll have access to priestess and warlock academy on OCTGN now!

The bad news: It'll be a bit more of an involved process than previous times (for now).

I figure it's best to get this out there and then figure out how to do it better. So, without further adieu

click HERE to be taken to the dropbox with the relevant files.

Step 1: download all of the files
Step 2: take the two folders (one is named 0a6c39c9-b8d2-453d-b4dd-4e3ec475b8a7 and one is named 044e91fe-c322-4ed9-ac55-ffc0e55df940) and place them in the OCTGN directory that should be similar to the following path ....OCTGN\GameDatabase\9acef3d0-efa8-4d3f-a10c-54812baecdda\Sets. I have my OCTGN root directory in the my documents folder, for example
Step 3: take the 'actions.py' and place it in the folder ....OCTGN\GameDatabase\9acef3d0-efa8-4d3f-a10c-54812baecdda\scripts  . You will be asked if you want to replace the current actions.py, and you will want to hit yes.
Step 4: take the MWCards.o8c file and save it wherever you save your image packs so you can install it through the game manager


Let me know if there are questions/issues. I'm sure there will be.

I've done all of this, the files are all in the correct places, the set files are intact (I can read the XML), but the card count has remained the same, the 2 new sets don't show in the set list, and I can't see any of the new cards in the deck editor?

Have you installed the image pack yet?  You have to do that inside OCTGN.

Yes, done - this would just make them appear as proxies if not though.

It's like OCTGN is missing an ini file telling it what sets it has and where to find them?

It works for me.


One comment - in case you wish to see academy cards only is there a way to do it besides selected all other sets one by one and choose excluse.
(ie. put on *set filter* 6 or so times.)

I went through all of the steps myself last night and it worked for me as well.  I'm not sure what may have happened.  Make sure that your new sets are located in the "Sets" folder within the Mage Wars game folder (9acef3d0-efa8-4d3f-a10c-54812baecdda)

@jacksmack
There is not a way to filter for only Academy at this point and until we get way more savvy at this Python thing I'm not sure there will be.

Perhaps it would be possible with another column called 'Academy legal' or similar. And cards would have 'Yes' / 'No'.

Positive the folders and files are in the right place. I've just repeated it on my tablet, and it's worked fine there.

When I get home, I'll try and delete and re-add the files...
