My water wiz book
« on: June 28, 2016, 10:14:43 AM »
Hello all. I'm a fairly junior player (been playing hardcore for about 6-7 months.) As such, I have a deck I would like to share with you all. Any feedback is welcome. I'll be updating it as I use it more often. The basis for the deck is a combination of gen con 2015 winner and his dome 2 book with some modifications. Here goes.

5 hurl rocks
2 Hurl boulders.
2 surging waves.
Conjerations

4 mana crystals
1 battleforge
1 death lock
Creatures
1 gargoyle sentry
1 huggin
Equip
1 leather boots and pants
2 gloves of skill
1 moonflower
2 chitin (likely to add a dragon scale back in)
2 mage wands
1 elemental wand
1 elemental cloak
Enchants
1 harmonize
1 rhino hide
1 arcane ward
3 nullifies
5 jinxes
Incantations

The Phoenix shall rise.

So far opening is double crystal and t2 crystal and something else. If I feel like I'm getting rushed, I will drop harmonize t2 instead of second crystal.this was before I added battleforge. These are a list of cards I cut and added in v1.1

Removed 2 gremlins
Removed 1 gargoyle sentry
Removed 1 jinx
Added one balliata
Added one wizards tower
Removed 1 purify
Removed 1purge magic
Added one teleport
Removed 1 dragonscale
Remove one jinx
Removed one ironvine
Removed one force hammer
Add 2 gloves of.skill
Removed one blur
Add death lock
Add battleforge
Add one elemental wand
Add 1 heal
Remove one minor heal

Feel free to count up sbp I haven't and tell me if it is over, under, or just right.
The Phoenix shall rise.

With all of the crystals, dispels, and mana based spells...I would definitely add an arcane ring. And then I'd change the opening a little and do ring/crystal, forge/crystal, harmonize forge/?? and you'd be set to go

Thanks Devil! I'll definitly consider adding an arcane ring, I'll just need to find a free sbp.

I would advise against harmonizing the forge. You've only got one and by putting even more mana onto it you're practically begging to have that bad boy surging waved. With the arcane ring you will be making up for the lost mana by not harmonizing the forge and youll break even. Nothing sucks more than having someone totally blow away that investment after you only get one piece of equipment out of it. Just a thought

I agree remaro. I usually prefer harmonizing  my self due to the surprise factor and forcing the opponent to use a dispel or similar spell to get rid of it.

Harmonize the Forge and throw a Reinforce or Enchantment Transfusion on it so it has extra life or you can move the Harmonize. If possible, get the Sentry out early and guard with it's Intercept.

Alas, [mwcard=MWSTX1CKE04]Enchantment Transfusion[/mwcard] only targets creatures.

To future proof your book you may want to add some non-attack spell stuff in case you run into some White Cloak Knights.

If you plan to use the forge against an offensive mage, I'd make sure to drop it turn 1.

Personally I love Ivarium Longbow with my Wizard. It combos with Hawkeye really well and if you get the opportunity to shoot/arcane zap/wizard's tower its super brutal. It can also deal with those pesky White Cloak Knights really easily.

Yes, although I would need to protect it. Also, arcane zap doesn't work against wck, counts as an attack spell.

Also does it seem that I have to much healing with death lock.

PS
