My guess would be to try and make the wizard more balanced with the rest of the mages.

I imagine it's because they ate experimenting on ways to make the wizard less OP. I would have preferred an epic tag on wizard tower but it's a good idea

it is less of a problem with a only once chose wizard, and finally this could result in having more incorporeal cards around
