Plants as Living Creatures
« on: April 10, 2015, 01:49:02 PM »
Hello,

I cannot find a clarify for it:
- There are now plants as living creatures (from DvN) in the game.
Is a Bloodthirsty or a Vampiric works against the plants?
There is a clarification for Bleed that it doesn't work on plant living creatures, but what about Vampiric and Bloodthirsty?

First, what i would like to point out is, that Vampiric and Bloodthirsty doesnt work on Conjurations which is probably the core of your question :)

Nothing in the Codex or Rules & Codex Supplement (FAQ) suggests that Vampiric or Bloodthirsty shouldn't work against living plant creatures... so it seems they work.  As far as I can tell, only Bleed specifically rules out affecting plant creatures.

@Boocheck; No, I know that living conjurations are immune to Vampiric and Bloodthirsty.
I've asked about living plant creatures :)

iNano78 is correct.

Bleed doesn't work because plants have no blood, so they can't bleed. However, Bloodthirsty and Vampirism don't depend on blood despite what their names may lead you to believe. They make more of a statement about the attacker than the defender.

Bloodthirsty can easily be explained without any need for blood. It's simply an overly aggressive creature that goes berserk when they sense an injured foe. Vampirism is a little more difficult because it kind of requires you to change your normal concept of a blood sucker into something more mystical that feeds on their life force.

Regardless of your individual thematic interpretation though, the answer to your question mechanically is that they both work on Plants and any other Living Creature regardless of blood. This is because, like iNano78 said, they are listed in the rules as working on all Living Creatures without any stated exceptions.
