wall-in opponent turn1?

Anyone ever try this? Agro walls!

If you have initiative, on your mage's action phase:
teleport forward 2 zones(6mana), then move one and cast an extended 5 mana wall(wall of earth) for 11 mana. 17 total.

I imagine it being a warlord. He does the above, then gets otto, boltstorm in an archers tower, and replaces the walls as they break.

In a 2v2, walling apart your opponents might be a good idea too.

You spend 17 mana for nothing but keep the enemy in his zone?

Let's assume it works. Usually the enemy uses his first turn to deploy a Creature or at least one conjuration.
He's caged, so he can deploy the creature and only one conjuration. In the end, it's not a lost turn for him.
Maybe he can already attack one of the walls with a melee attack. The walls have no armor, so there will be some damage.

In round two, you'll have 11 Mana, not enough to deploy a good ranged creature and use your second action in a way that it makes sense. I would say: lost turn for you.
The caged enemy can deploy a creature, that will start to tear down your wall in round 3 and is still able to cast a useful equipment or something like that.

In Round 3, the trouble starts for you, because you cannot keep the enemy in his cage. He can melee attack the wall and use his quickcast to teleport his mage or his creature out of the starting zone, just to be sure not to end in a cage again.

Akiro, I have never prayed to you before. No one will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that one stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Akiro... so grant me strength! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!

the real counter to this would be to do whatever one CAN do with the planned spells in round 1.

Round 2 and on i would just summon bigs / mediums every round and put on cheap armor to mitigate damage from ludwig. You will spend actions and mana on maintaining a cage while im summoning a deadly army which will be able to wipe out your puny army in 1 round once the cage is down.

I recently lost a game to a Wizard who did just that. With practice I don't think it'll keep working, but it's really disorienting the first time it happens to you.
I can take the fun out of anything. It's true; here, look at this spreadsheet.

Sounds like a big waste of mana that only works 50% of the time  ???

but 50% of the time, it works every time. That is an anchorman reference btw.

Wouldn't it be obvious to just build your own tower and ranged unit
