Dignitary Mage Wars (emperor-ish format #2)
« on: August 12, 2014, 02:12:13 PM »
Two teams. Each team has three mages, including one Dignitary and two Diplomats. The objective is to kill the enemy dignitary. Friendly mages do not share life, but they do share initiative. 4x6 arena. Diginitaries start in opposite corners. Diplomats start 2 zones away from their friendly Dignitaries in both directions. Like thus:

OZOZZZ
ZZZZZX
OZZZZZ
ZZZXZX

Also, in casual games there are no duplicate friendly mages allowed, each player on a team must pick a different mage than their teammates, each team can only have at most 1 copy of each named epic spell, and there is not unified spellbook building.

In tournaments there is unified spellbook building and duplicate friendly mages are allowed.

The Teleport spell cannot target enemy mages.

What are the dignitaries attributes and traits? (life, armor, living creature, etc...)

I would suggest a 4x5 board. Big boards tend to increase the game length and demotivate aggressive builds.

You don't think a 3v3 game needs a bigger board than 2v2?

Dignitary is a team position, not a specific named card. If this mage dies your team loses. That's it. Maybe I'm not understanding your question.

Hi Imaginator,

It sounds like an awesome alternative play. I wish I could find enough players to try it out.

The original board is 3x4 and I would suggest a 4x5 board, however this is just a personal preference, the best way to know how it works is testing. As I said before, large boards tend to demotivate aggressive play styles, that's my only concern.

Thanks,
Lukard
