Bloodwave Greatbow
« on: June 02, 2014, 12:12:43 AM »
So I got my hands on some of the new prize support: Fire Elemental, Rain Cloud, Spike Armor, and Bloodwave Greatbow today. While I certainly think the Fire Elemental and Rain Cloud will see a fair bit of play in my area I was personally very impressed with the Bloodwave Greatbow.

Level 3 War Creature
12 Mana
11 Health
0 Armor
Full Action: Great Bow 1-2 Range 4 dice attack
Quick Action: Dagger Melee 2 Dice

When Bloodwave Greatbow is effected by a friendly Command spell his Greatbow attack gains +2 Piercing until the end of the round.

Given the Armory, Archers Tower, and oh yeah the dwarfs Take Aim Battle Order it's going to be ridiculously easy to stack a disgusting amount of piercing on these guys when they come out. You team em with a few of those Crossbowmen and you've go yourself something nice going there.

Sure thing!

Level 1 Air and level 1 Water
Conjuration
8 Mana
5 Life
Incorporeal, Flying, Hydro Immunity

All objects in Rainclouds zone gain the Flame-2 Acid-2 and Regenerate 1 traits. Each Upkeep Phase you may remove 1 Burn condition or 1 Corrode condition from 1 object in Rainclouds zone by paying it's removal cost. Once per round immediately before or after any friendly action Phase you may pay 1 mana to move Raincloud 1 zone and attach it to that zone.

So yes it's a flying Conjuration! I'm also fairly certain we'll be seeing some fairly gloomy Druids in the not too distant future.

I prefer him with classic Warlord's ranged +1.

Battle Orders counts as a command spell by itself, so just using Volly gives him +1 ranged and +2 pierce which is a better package in my opinion than new Warlord overloading him with +4 Pierce on his battle order.

Sniper Shot isnt bad either, giving him Unavoidable and 1 Pierce, than +2 more.   Basically a ranged perfect strike and pierce strike all at once.

Not going to get into the "+1 Attack or +1 Piercing" debate but I do agree there's a lot of excellent wars to make this guy very nasty indeed. The range game in my opinion gets overlooked too much due to the ease of closing in on archers, however if you spread a few of these guys out you can make for some pin-cushioned enemies real quick.

The way I read the text you posted, then to my understanding just being in the same zone as standard bearer will activate his piercing. Same with fortified position.

Huh you know jack you're right. I copied the text word for word from the card. That's actually pretty neat lol.

Also so as to have it up here to I present the Fire Elemental:

Level 6 Fire
Creature
20 Mana
15 Life
Upkeep 1, Hydro +2, Incorporeal, Non Living, Flame Immunity
Quick Attack: Claws of Fire. 5 Dice Flame Melee Attack. 5-8 Burn. 9+ 2 Burn. Defrost.
Damage Barrier: Scorching Heat. 2 Dice Flame. 5-8 Burn. 9+ Burn and Daze. Unavoidable.
Hydro attacks gain the ethereal trait against Fire Elemental.

So not a bad beater though he's a bit vulnerable to Lightning attacks. The artwork on this card is really awesome I'll say that.

Not going to get into the "+1 Attack or +1 Piercing" debate

There is no debate; Melee/Ranged +X > Piercing +X in all circumstances.

In general 2 dice ~= 3 pierce, but only if the target has enough armour for all of the piercing to matter.

Ok sure. Like I said I have no interest in debating this with you.

Because there is nothing to debate. It is proven mathematically.

So I've heard. You can take my lack of desire to argue as belief that you're right if you like though if it makes you feel better about yourself. Frankly I don't care what you think or believe on the issue, but hey if what I believe means so much that you feel the need to post about it after I've stated "Don't want to debate it" there are churches, political bodies, and ad companies the world over you could have a smashing career in.

You sound like someone who believe Earth is flat and when someone prove him Earth is round, says "So I heard, but I don't care what you believe, I don't want to argue".

Dude (and dudette). You are presenting your view with the intention of engaging in a discussion - that's the definition of a debate. It doesn't matter if your views are mathematically proven or not - it's still a debate. Back off.

We've had plenty of discussion about the + X trait vs. Piercing issue. We don't need to push more in here. It was totally appropriate to bring it up as we were discussing it's relative value, but we should be good on it now. Thanks.
