This is really cool. I like it alot in fact. I can certainly see how late game it could be a real swinger if it's powering a beefed up Barracks and dropping a new recruit basically every round.

What we must all remember is no matter the game we were all newbies at one point.

Wasn't there a group of 4 card pictures somewhere where there was one (mostly hidden) that looked like a Orc with a giant bow? Man I know there was. I just can't remember where -_- He had an attack with alot of text where if you met a certain requirement, it gained piercing +2 or something.

Perhaps that is what is being referenced :P

Barracks is only limited to 3 channeling from it's outpost ability. So, the Altar of Carnage would let you keep placing mana on a barracks regardless of the mana already on the barracks.

Holy crap shit batman!

This thing is amazing. It makes soldier swarm build so viable. The more you hit, the more you spawn.

My exact reaction to seeing this card. I actually fell out of my chair.

I had a vision. A vision of a Barrack vomiting goblins and orcs conquering everything on their path.

@LordofWinter: the card you remember is from the current organized play kit. It is an orkish bowman.

How does this work with:

Double / tripple strike? (mana for each hit that does damage?)

How does it work with sweeping strike? (3 mana if all 3 hits does damage?)

How does it work with Ludwigs Zone attack? (If there is 5 enemy creatures in the zone he zone attacks, will the altar get to place 5 mana if Ludwig does damage to all of them?)

Goblin builder can receive the mana I assume though it doesn't have channeling itself?

At first look this card look expensive.
Giving up 8 mana is a big deal, and it will often take 3 rounds before its repaid.

I hope the synergy from construction yard can make this card viable.

Edited for lack of ability to read a card -_-

that's what it was. If it is in the current organized play kit, then it's probably not what was being referenced.

@jacksmack. The card says it only trigger once per creature per turn.

Check the last sentence on the card. "Each friendly soldier may only trigger this ability once per round."
So, Double / Triple Strike, Sweeping, and AoE all only trigger it once. There was a point in Development where this wasn't the case, and yes, it was as ridiculous as you're thinking.

[mwcard=FWC04]Goblin Builder[/mwcard] is a Familiar, so you can, yes, put mana on him/her. You can't [mwcard=MW1E20]Harmonize[/mwcard] the goblin because it doesn't have channeling, but that's because of the rules on Harmonize specifically.
I can take the fun out of anything. It's true; here, look at this spreadsheet.

Finally a reason to play the Barracks. I suspect that just as Lair based play is best built around Timber Wolves, Barracks based play will be best built around Orc Butchers and similar level 2 creatures, particularly with the introduction of the Armory. Now if only it didn't have Flame +2 so the Adramelech Warlock wouldn't burn it to the ground in a turn...
