The card is cool. The "Living" requirement less (no use for skeleton soldiers)

What I like about it is a I can summon a creature into the zone with my mage and then follow up with his QC to place a Guard marker on them the same round they are summoned. Helps a bit with Telfrag situations....

Yeah, no joy for [mwcard=FWC09]Golems[/mwcard] or [mwcard=DNC22]Zombies[/mwcard] with this one.
I can take the fun out of anything. It's true; here, look at this spreadsheet.

Yeah i know it was probably the reason of the requirement.

Still like the final art.

I like the card. Not a bad spell to bind to Helm of Command. But why does it have to be novice? This seems a little unbalanced.

I wonder why its too good to be cast on a mage. I'd like the target line to read "friendly living creature or friendly soldier"

I honestly can't think of a single situation where I would want to cast this on a non-mage target, the Warlord especially. His creatures are designed to protect him.

I could see possible abuse if it targeted mages in a solo build... Cheaper than a battle fury for an additional attack/too cheap to stall(deter) attacking?

I'm very excited to get a defensive analog to the other offensive novice command Incantations.  Can't wait to use in priest w/Guardian Angels and Temple high guards!  I hope there are more defense-oriented spells with the new warlord :-)

Nice card: as well as the directly defensive, this could make it easier for a creature to charge forward and attack, as it could then go immediately into defensive mode.

I'm interested as to why commands seem to be novice so often: as rebalancing the Warlord is presumably part of the objective of this expansion, giving him a spellbook advantage on a few more cards would be an easy win. I assume there's some underlying principle behind it: is it just that they're seen as very basic toolbox, even more than some of the non-novice arcane spells?

nice card for decks in which the mage go with only one powerfull creature (torgorath, grizzly..) you have a cheaper block and a battlefury, all in one.

This is not a bad little spell. It's very cheap and easy to put on a creature when you want them to both attack and be able to defend as well. Overall I'm getting more and more excited about this set.

It seems related to Vigilant in function except that it cost mana and an action. However, it gives any Living, Non-mage Creature the opportunity to become 'extra' Vigilant.

This was the response on FB to that question: "Defend was novice for two reasons. First, we felt that this was a simple order. Any intellegent living creature could be ordered to guard something, so this was a a simple spell to encourage them to do so. Second, when we wanted to have spell to encourage more creature combat. That was something we wanted everyone to have access to.

When looking at the Warlord and command spells, it's good to keep in mind that he has three cards for him alone that improve the use of commands, Gurmash, Helm of Command, and Ring of Command. Of these Gurmash and the Helm are superb with this command."

seems like pretty weak reasoning to me.
