The Druid and, to a lesser extent, the Necromancer have started with bad match-ups
I'd dearly love the Warlord to win but I can't see it sadly with this match-up (Mana Denial, Teleport etc)
The Warlock and Jokhtari may have problems against the Necromancer in future rounds

So my blind (no-books) tip is the Forcemaster
Because I think he's played by your roomie who used to whup you when you were a wee cub

It was a brutal first round. The Necromancer BARELY at the buzzer finished off the Priestess at the last second.

The Wizard and the Warlord went to friggin war and if not for the Wizard using dark curses it'd have gone a totally different way. Warlord also forgot to get the barracks out early.

The Warlock was doing pretty good til Kralathor just opened up some massive damage rolls. Druid coasted to victory. Bleed tokens also help.

The Force Master was fortunate that the Johtari Beast Master lost their lair early on and only managed to get out minimum creatures.....which were put to sleep....sorry ferret.

Nope it's not my roommate Arthur lol. This is Spring Break for UNCC and he went home to his folks, as did about 4 other of our players. Force Master is being played by a FORMER roommate of mine and my eternal WIZ War enemy lol. Also one of the smartest people I know.

The Druid was able to get past the Force Master due to an unwillingness of the Force Master to risk their equipment.

The Necromancer got past the Wizard through Idol of Pestilence, Deathlock, walls, and the Cloak of Shadows. 11 damage to 9!

The Warlord got past the Priestess in what was easily the bloodiest fight with massive armies on both sides. Was close but superior range won it for the Warlord.

The Johtari Beast Master by the skin of her teeth got past the Warlock with a phenomanal damage roll at the end. Otherwise Ghoul Rot would have taken her out next upkeep!

This was the winning spellbook today. It was played by my best friend Adam who like everyone in my group is pretty new to this. Still I think it's a solid little Druid build. I didn't get to watch a lot of his matches as my co-judge was on that side of the room while I helped the players with less grasp of rules. Adam is a competitive player and one of the only people in Charlotte who can regularly challenge me in Hero Clix. He plays very tactically sound in my experience. Mainly he buffed the beejeevus out of Kralathor and kept him protected and eating.

This is the Necromancer book played by Andrew at Sunday's event. It came in 4th place and would have gotten first had he beaten Adam in Round 3. It was a real slow build up but once it got running it won it's first two matches though a good defense. Andrew has been playing for about two months now and is an intelligent player who's trying to get down Necromancer as his first mage.

This is the Johktari Beast Master Corey used. It took 3rd place. He mainly buffed Susroko and got some good luck with the taunting. The ferret got put to sleep once which resulted in his loss. Otherwise he used the ferret to keep the enemy mage busy while he generated mana to summon the Dire Wolves. He used the Hunting Bow to good effect but got it Dissolved in Round 2. Corey started playing about 3 weeks after me.
