Charm and Hindering
« on: August 17, 2013, 03:04:35 AM »
If a creature is Charmed, does it still hinder my mages her movement?
Since I don't control the monster, I'd say the monster still hinders her.

But why won't that monster let me pass? It feels a little contradictory.

It still hinders the Forcemaster, it can even guard so that the FM would have to attack it (and break charm) as well as attack other things controlled by the Forcemaster.

Yup also a good tactic to remember

This opened my eyes a bit. The fact that these things are true pretty significantly reduces the value of Charm in my mind.

Make your forcemaster elusive, move the guard out of the zone, pull the opposing mage to you, attack with another creature first. There are lots of options around Charms weakness.

If Charm didn't have those weaknesses it would either be far more expensive or very over-powered. It still forces your opponent to put their charmed creature in a defensive posture if you choose to address the enchantment that way. It is still SO effective regardless of loopholes.
