Spells / DvN Wand of Healing
« on: December 25, 2013, 06:33:08 PM »
Hello I just got the new expansion and I have a quick question. How does wand of healing suit the necromancer (out of all the mages) when all of his creatures are non living? I get it that he can use it on himself but still, he seems like the worst choice for this wand. Do I miss anyting?

Mages / Re: Is there any love for warlord?

Personally this is the only drawback for me in the mage wars tournament format. Personally I enjoy the longer, more casual games with a lot of back and forth much more. But it would take too much time unfortunately. It would be great to spectate longer, more laid back games from pros on youtube or anywhere :).

Yeah I read it, but thought he won't be able to do anything that turn:). So slam is a glorified daze than, that could be removed right away if the enemy hasn't activated that creature this turn yet. Thank you for the clarification, so much to learn:)

Let's talk about slam than:). I might play it wrong but slam says target is incapacitated. Incapacitated means that when he is activated (if a creature) it misses its turn, you just flip its activation token over:

"An Incapacitated creature still takes an Action Phase during the round, but it cannot perform any actions during its Action Phase (normally, the action marker is simply flipped over)."

Wouldn't it mean that when a slammed creature gets it's turn, you flip it's activation token, he misses his turn, and than it gets dazed for the next round? The codex doesn't really go deep into this, so which way do we use it?

It was posted on BGG, an unboxing video:

Long story short we have seen all the cards in the set. To be honest I expected a little more theme from a themed expansion. I already mentioned I expected the invading priest army to have a lot of new tricks, but they didn't get too much new cards. I also waited at least the beastmaster's cool looking green dagger. Also I thought from the box size and the price point that we will get 2 new spellbooks (that I wouldn't have used probably since I have enough).

However even though I find the price way too high for 106 new cards and some tokens, I will surely buy it for the new creatures (they all seem a lot of fun), and for some of the few other fun cards.

I hope it means you need to buy 2 or 3 copies for full set of cards, that would mean a lot of unspoiled spells :). Or it could mean that you stuff your pillows with cards:D

I have a game against another new player planned for tonight. I have played a couple of solo games and one last night with my wife (her Priestess deck trounced my Warlord!) Played a little with the program today at work and seems pretty intuitive.

Pretty excited about this development - there is a dearth of local players - would be great to see some online tournaments develop - will be great way to hone my skills for real face to face gaming events which are likely to be few and far between...

Pretty excited aswell, if Arcane Wonders doesn't mind we could make a topic for finding online opponents, so we could form a little active community, so we can play even when our real life friends are busy.

It would be great to have an active online community like android netrunner has on OCTGN. They even have tournaments from time to time and it helps to promote the game. I guess its good if the fans can play your game even when their real time friends are busy. However it is a topic Arcane Wonders will have to think about, if they want to let it or not. I guess its a good promotion for the game, but I can see the problems aswell. With FFG games it works the was that you can only publish uncensored cards after 6 months. In the meantime owners of the game can scan their cards and update their version's card database. This way they have the uncensored cards.

Personally I prefer OCTGN much more (for cardgames at least), and the guy's plugin is kind of playable already, you just have to do a lot of things for yourself. Or are you against OCTGN? (but than it would mean that Vassal is a no go aswell, right?)

My wish is only a small one, nothing special. I think that the elemental weaknesses are a little too potent (fire+2, lightning+2 especially). So I think we could use an elemental resistance enchantment. It shouldn't be too powerful, even a fire-1 or lightning-1 could be enough, that way it doesn't negate the weakness, but still makes it better. On the downside it would mean at least 4 different cards, that would take up 16-24 space in an expansion. So what i thought there could be an elemental resistance enchantment, and you should put an elemental token on it showing the resistance type. 12-18 card space saved:D.

Other variation could be a resistance with all elements-1, or you could put a token on it and that would mean its -2 from 1 element. For now it is tough to use certain units against certain mages, but this way for some extra money you could summon them in the right situation.

I'm happy with the new amount of cards and alternate Mages. Of course I would like more cards, but I think there is a solid amount for a mini expansion such as this.

Is this a confirmation that we saw all the new cards?:). Or you say you would be fine with it? For me it would be good either way, but still some info would be great from the proud owners of the expansion.

It deserved the sticky, now lets keep it updated:)
