General Discussion / Re: Mage Wars Academy Reveal: Meditating Monk
« on: February 04, 2016, 05:15:00 PM »
I love this card.

I will def use this card in Arena, is it as so versatile. How many times have we uttered the words: If I just had one more mana!

Also these are absolute gold in a Priestess build. I want 6 please.

Unfortunately you can only have one in play at a time.

Yes, I know this. I was being expressive :P

Sharks with frikkin' last beams on their heads > Laser Raptor > Robot Dinosaur

Let's go with Ill Tempered Mutated Seabass.

I take this and upgrade it to: Singing Ill Tempered Mutated Seabass

Strategy and Tactics / Re: surging wave push&slam
« on: November 10, 2015, 07:20:08 PM »
However it isn't, as the push generates a movement action, for the purposes of timing a wall attack, cited by the rule summary sheet 4e.

Personally my logic say this: you roll enough for push and slam. you generate the slam and the push at the same speed, however the result of the push triggers a movement action, which is covered by those rules. Thus the card is resolved before the action triggers, it generates, are resolved.

Rules Discussion / Re: Sosruko's Taunt Effect vs Skeelax
« on: November 08, 2015, 12:57:40 PM »
Domination and Arena have the same codex. Much like Thorg's Taunt is different than Sosruko's, so is Skeelax's. So really there will be 2 codexes.

Will these codices be totally separate? If cards and terms from Academy are used in Arena will there be an arena codex that covers them? Or will a player have to use the other codex?

Change to soldier or add soldier? Adding the soldier would be consistent with Brogan and the Knight of Westlock.

Sorry I do not have the cards in front me, I would keep subtypes consistent and add any new ones as needed.

Last one for today. I made a concept of the force knight. He's meant to make those around him weaker, and he feeds off their weakness. That's what the daze mechanic is meant to do. I'll be back tomorrow with some of the other ideas. Feel free to discuss. if you feel that these ideas are way off base just let me know, this is meant to represent what you all want.

To tidy up the text of Nightmare Knight:

"All creatures in the same zone as [Name], with Daze condition markers upon them, may not remove any Daze condition markers after acting, unless they hit name.

When a Daze counter is removed from a creature in the same zone as [Name], [Name] may Reconstruct 2 damage."

Also change the subtype to soldier. This then gives the war mages more creatures and is consistent with Brogan and the Knight of Westlock.

Shadow demon
mind level 2 & dark level 2
range 0 - 2
15 mana

Life -
Armor -
Melee -

Cantrip

When shadow demon enters play it gains Life, armor, and all trait and attack options attached to a creature in its zone. Shadow demon cannot have enchantments attached to it.

"My greatest challenge was to overcome myself." - Akiro

Ok I like this,  however however how about make this a Doppelganger instead, in the mind school, that requires the casting mage to have a copy of the card and this card goes behind, like an enchantment, and it is the only way to by pass legendary, epic etc. This means that Forcemaster can have creatures, but they are copies of your Creatures.

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Backup Battleforge
« on: October 29, 2015, 08:13:40 PM »
Why don't people have backup Battleforge(s) for when one is destroyed? people often bring multiple wizards towers for the same reason. Maybe its because equipment isn't central to killing the enemy, while damage dice from a tower are. The meta seems to be kill the battleforge turn 3, so why not bring a backup?

Who says they don't? :)

I'd like to take this opportunity to also point out that Battle Forge isn't unique or legendary. You can have two in play at once, if you want. They cost more than Mana Crystal, but they're lots more durable...

My surging wave wand says otherwise.......

It looks like there were some issues with the PDF when we made it. Thank you for finding this. I've gone and took that single page for you. Right now it has some lines on it, but it should be readable. I'll get with our layout people and try to get this fixed. Thanks again.

The link to the file is >>HERE<<.

Many thanks

Website Support and Feedback / 4 ed Arena Rulebook Round Summary sheet
« on: October 28, 2015, 09:26:35 AM »
I have just went to download the Round summary sheet as I will be teaching a friend how to play. I found firstly that the round summary sheet is not the 4 edition one but an earlier edition, so I opened the 4 edition rulebook on the dropbox page and prepared it to print.

I get a messed page that is below:

I am using windows xp on this machine with Chrome Version 46.0.2490.71 m and an Epson Stylus DX5000 series.

Rules Discussion / Re: Poisoned Blood and Barksin

@Beldin:

The one part I disagree with is after a ready marker is used, as that implies that players can respond between flipping the marker and actually resolving the effect that the marker indicates, which I do not believe is the case. Ready markers also aren't really a type of occurrence unto themselves. They are used to remind you of any limited use effect that you may have.

@ Zuberi Yes that's fine. I was trying to think of instances where an action can happen and got carried away.  ;D Also yes that was my intention to flesh out a set of workable rules. I realsied that it was possible that this was the way people were playing and if the case then we have a set of rules to work with, with well defined terms. It is how I prefer my rules.
