I would remove the Gate to Voltari. You have no Arcane creatures. It is  waste of spellBook points.

Also I would swap the full acion destruction spells for quick action ones. You do not want to be competitive sure, but if you are only going to have a n option then the quick cast version is always better.

This is a discussion about shutting the door after the horse has bolted, and I will add those hinges are rusted in position from the amount of time it has been.

This is the same as asking why are attack dice called attack dice and not action dice. It is a part of the game, that for better or worse, is not going to change.

Try letting the stats card be top instead of the mage card.
(Or vice versa.)

Solved it for my necromancer.

For this reason I only include the stats card when making books. I do not play on OCTGN so I do not include the mage card, as I know to add it when stuffing a book. So no this will not fix my issue.


Edit update
Issue fixed: I added the druid mage card and that fixed the issue. However it is the only time I have come across this.

Of course they do... it is better and usable in Arena.

Well it depends on the 120. There is a fringe case where you want to save 1 sbp, do not need reach, or the extra burns from lash of Hellfire; but you still want an extra weapon of 4D. I would categorise this as the novice version for LoH for Warlocks. Maybe playable in a forge build but only as a backup. You have to weigh up what you are losing for the gain of a SBP and a in-game gain of 3 mana. Also you have to read it as blank text, as all Ki is generated in arena using inefficient plays. If you really need a burn that badly it is more efficient in actions, SBP, etc to use Wand of fire and Ice.

Personally I think I would stick an extra Lash of Hellfire and a wand of Fire an Ice over this. Both the Lash and the Wand will give you more utility over this alone.

Yes pretty terrible idea - removes most of the skill and tactics...

Apprentice mode is a 6 tile grid. That game already exists, it's not Academy.

Seconded. If it works for you then great however that is not arena, nor is it something I want to play. It is a tit for tat battle that require little thought and planning. What makes the game interesting is locking in a choice for the turn. By choosing the best counter for the spell played, when required, detracts from the game at large. The arena is fine how it is. if you do not like the length or size of the game then maybe another game would be to your liking instead.

If you downloaded the app at least once, Apple keeps the app in your account so you can download it again  :)

Ewww, I need a wash now lol. I  am a droid user and have been for years. I have never owned a single crapple product.

The problem here, as Kharhaz stated, is that the rules for using a Vine as the source prevents you from targeting anything outside of the vine's zone (or a wall bordering it). It doesn't matter what the range on the spell is, when you use a vine as the source you are limited to within that vine's zone (or a wall bordering it).

Now, if it's just the Necromancer who has obscured and not the whole zone, you could target a vine in the zone with the Necromancer to attack them.

But there's no reason to stop Timmy players doing anything...

The attackbar on this card has the option for a triplestrike. 5+3+3 = 11

Ludwig is hardly a consideration? +Ranged doesn't affect Zone Attacks or Additional Strikes...

Which is why I didn't say a 15 dice Ludwig. It is not a consideration for Spike players, there are Timmy players who would consider it.

I'm not sure they are needed - less than 20% of creatures have ranged abilities, let alone ranged attacks, and there are already several things boosting them, but I don't think it would break the game if more were added.

I could see a cheap enchantment for minor creatures for example.

Firstly thank you for this, I have some interesting findings from this exact OCTGN search. That said there are only 12 creatures (3.8%) affected by these designs.


From the designs presented, honestly I do not see designs 1 and 2 being made. 1 is just a battle order really. 2 would not be made as it outclasses Hawkeye thus would default to it. 3 Might be made but it seems a bit meh. 4. is just a tidy up of the incantation promos, thus unless they wanted to make this then it won't be printed.

I would even argue against the minor creature hawkeye clone. As you say they are not really needed.  But if a hawkeye clone was created in Academy I would say it's targetbar is "Minor living creature". This stops a 11 dice Ludwig and 6D ranged major creatures.

Seriously though, the more these swarms are discussed, the more I wonder how they pass through playtest. They are super cool in theory, but it feels like there are some oversights here.

It has to be remembered that each playtester is a voice within a forum (a super secret one which only we see), much like here. We play with versions of the cards and give our feedback on the designed cards, however it is upto the designers to modify those cards and the final versions ultimately fit the image of the set that they want to create.

What I also can not understand why Resilient in Academy was not introduced as a keyword.

One of the complaints that has come back is that there are too many keywords in Mage Wars, so Academy tends to have card text that explains the keyword instead of the actual keyword itself.
