General Questions / Re: Hawkeye + Healing Light?
« on: October 12, 2013, 05:49:07 PM »
Here is the whole Problem and why it is confusing. They used the wrong symbol from the start. If it is not an Attack it should use the range Icon from the casting line in the ability's range field. The same should aply to zone attacks. Zone attacks use the same Arrow range Icon and they are not Renged attacks and do not benifit from Ranged +X modifiers.

Rules Discussion / Re: Questions on Steal Equipment and Mind Control
« on: September 17, 2013, 04:37:47 AM »
Here is the latest excerpt from our FAQ which should be downloadable tonight:

Restricted Spells
If a spell is restricted to a particular Mage or school of training, it refers to two things:
1)   Placing that spell in that Mage’s spellbook when building their spellbook before the game begins.
2)   Controlling or using that spell during the course of the game.
Examples:
•   If the Forcemaster casts Steal Equipment, she can target a Warlock’s Lash of Hellfire, which has the Warlock Only trait. However, since she cannot use this spell, it is destroyed instead.
•   Steal Enchantment cannot be used to take control of an enchantment you might otherwise be restricted from. For example, the Wizard cannot take control of a Forcemaster’s Forcefield.
•   If the Priestess steals a Mage Wand with a Drain Life spell bound to it, she cannot use cast that spell. She can steal the wand, but the wand would be of no use to her unless she chooses to bind a new spell to it.
•   The Forcemaster cannot cast Mind Control a Huginn, Raven Familiar because it is Wizard Only.

The bolded line needs to be added to the Rulebook. as the rule book states that traits in Grey can be ignored for game play aspects.

Rules Discussion / Re: Passage Attacks pushes and Wall of Pikes facing
« on: August 20, 2013, 06:40:55 PM »
wiz pig- the problem is I can't search the forum for ever interaction of every card to make sure there isn't a card interaction base on intent. I am not psychic to discern intent.

I can understand that, but it will be in the FAQ and it's not too hard to simply reference the FAQ.

That is until the FAQ is fifty pages long because we will need hundreds of entries if things continue to be ruled on intent as opposed to thier text. Only Cards that simply do not function inside of thier own text need an intent ruling, others just operate by thier text. If there is some interaction that was not intended, but it doesn't break the game it should be left alone.  Could it make some things a little stronger or weaker? Perhaps, But is it really worse than the need to tell some one that is new to the game that these cards don't interact the way they should, and you need to reference this ruling encyclopedia to make sure your spell book functions the way it should.

this ruling is directly in opposition to the text of the card as it does not state that it looses the passage blocked trait, simply that the attack is not done. those are two different things.

You need to reword that entry, because it sounds like the text takes affect because of the reveal. Wouldn't that also be true for all Enchantments that say "when revealed...do x" like Divine intervention.

General Discussion / Re: Incapacitate?

I really don't think the intention of the original statement was to indicate Knockdown would help against the SOA or TOL, at least that is not how I took it. I took it as meaning incapacitate is really good and since I don't have access to SOA or TOL I will sometimes use Knockdown instead.

Well, it certainly seems that is the way sIKE sees it. Also I don't even see why it came into the duscussion. he should certainly have a few in his solo decks for the occasional Infinite defense characters and a few various other Pesky characters. It however does nothing agaisnt  most other characters and especially mages for that matter.

yes and right there next to it on the card its says "UNTIL THE BEGINING OF ITS NEXT ACTION PHASE" the incapacitate from knockdown is completely different than being stunned or incapacitated from  other effects. I agree with sdougla2.  I see no way that it can significantly help against the staff or Temple of Light.
