That's awesome! I too hope to play with my kids when they get older. I imagine having my kids beat me in Mage Wars would bring a tear of joy to my eye.

I have maybe 50 games in now on OCTGN, with around 75% win, but my 11 year old son still beats me handsomely.

What is this madness?!     :o

Rushing, with a spawn point?

He's gone INSANE!

Interesting though.

I have fantasies of giving Brogan Bear Strength and Hand of Bim-Shalla and 1 shotting a Wizard's tower.

I have tried that but rolled poorly, as usual.

I have been running a fairly similar build, but use one grizzly, Galador and Brogan. More flexible vs various threats. Brogan reall helps vs FM.

Staying with your book, you might want a mongoose agility to avoid guards.

Fentum? (somewhere in Essex?) Or have we lost you to OCTGN?

I'm afraid you hit the nail on the head there. Best of luck though. Well done for sorting it out.

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Walls

Thanks sIKE

So focus on using archers as win condition instead? Hmm... i like w/ hawkeye, sniper shot on helm, release volley! to augment.

Maybe once a wall is breached, replace w/ less expensive wall o' pikes, spike pit, teleport trap, quicksand in the zone to be entered behind the wall...

After wall of pikes goes up, the ballista and/or slingers can come out.

I have only about 20 games or so with Warlord against a small pool of opponents, but it seems the huge drawback with this is luck and lack of flexibility. Maybe this strategy works better with someone other than Warlord?

EVERY strategy works better with someone other than Warlord.    :-\

General Discussion / Re: Druid vs Necro Spoilers

Yeah both good, especially Death Ring.

With mana discounters, I always found the "once per round" a bit clunky as it requires remembering. We tend to tap the Ring then untap it during Reset. Tracking Death Ring usage is trickier (tap it for once, invert it for twice).

I just chuck ready markers on for this kind of tracking, then I remember to flip them back with any others in the upkeep phase.

I just chuck ready markers on, then FORGET to flip them!

That's why I love OCTGN and its nice automation.

When paying on OCTGN, I am always in my Mage robes. I kit myself out with equipment too, but only as I cast them. That's why I never play the Warlord. That Sledgehammer just won't fit in my office!

...and that's also why I don't have a video feed.    ;)

Yes, video feed would be a bit off-putting. Especially if you are playing the sultry Siren...

Careful now... :o

Has anyone tried enchanting him with Bull Endurance? This might give him enough life so that the opponent doesn't want to spend two actions to take him down and thereby extend his staying power.

Just a thought...

Yes. I tested out buffing him up for a while.

Three words...

Dead mana sink

It would be cool if we could cosplay as our favorite mages. Will we ever be able to do this?

Is there any word regarding the official online spellbook builder? I heard that it went into "beta trials" about a month ago, and I was just wondering how things are going.

It went into alpha testing a while ago and is getting close to a public test

Me! Me! Me! Me!    :P

Depends on LOS. I have seen WT have almost 0 effect on a match before or be completely controlling.

That's strange. I have had that very experience with almost every card!

Which is a GOOD thing in my book.

Makes things far from boring.

Man, I love wacky trickster builds.

Well done young man!

Your Warlock looks pretty solid and standard. It would be a decent match up vs anything.

FircthecFM, I tend to find Thoughtspores too squishy, and the stalker situational. I like grizzlies and Nec vamps with the FM, and bugger the book cost!

But I am no expert on either of these guys. And if you really want to win, take a Wizard!    ;)

I played versus a nice gentleman called Shenful on OCTGN who used a similar build. Well, at least until my PC froze up.

Grizzly plus Galador for the ranged stun chance attack. Also a ring of force was great to fund those force pulls. He beat my own sorry attempt at a FM build, and played well. but fell fairly easily to a standard Air wizard build with Nec vamp, wizard tower and board control.
