Personally, with skeleton books I always take an armory. But that might be just me, since the gencon winning book didn't have one and still won a tournament.

A zombie necromancer makes a "rush me or lose" game. When there are too many zombies, they necromancer make them frenzy and the other mage just die. But with all zombies being bloodthirsty and all but the brutes being pests, the zombie necromancer can't really rely on guards unless he bring other creatures as well, so there is some vulnerability to rushes.
I like better the skeleton necromancer, because skeletons make a great excuse for an armory, and I just like armories :) It is a nice card that I just like to play.

Within more causal metas this works fine. This is far too inefficient for me and who I play against. I wold rather harmonise the temple so it automates and generates a creature quicker. If mana is a problem then maybe priestess wins out.
I harmonize only if I try to turtle in the corner (like when I face a forcemaster). Otherwise it just makes the temple something that should be destroyed, and spending 14 mana and 2 actions on it makes many opponents consider spending about the same to destroy it (it has only 8 life 3 armor).
And anyway, I don't really plan to bring a creature in the second round, since I am actually playing a melee build that would use most of the first rounds on equipping and enchanting the mage.
In a meta where adramelech warlocks are too common, priests might be not so good, and priestesses would usually be a better choice (because they transfer the burn back to you). In a meta where adramelech warlocks are rare enough, after PvS the priest became a very decent mage in my opinion.

Quote
With PvS out HA got much better with the inclusion of the breastplate that allows you to gaurd and the noble vanguard there are many options to trigger the HA, my two favorite targets for HA are the asyran defender and white cloak knight. White cloak knight is still a little squishy and I usually invest some mana to protect him while asyran defender has built in defense so I feel there is no need to invest anymore mana into him after making him HA. In my current priest book which I run a temple sentry, a noble vanguard, a temple highgaurd, and two asyran defenders.
Well, even before PvS you would usually run at least 2 creatures, one to guard and one to avenge (when I have enough mana it would be a knight of westlock holy avenger with a guardian angel as the guard, but many times I use cheaper creature). Definitely PvS made some better options for the priest, especially when it comes to attack spells and conjurations, and temple high guard might be a better choice for a guard than the guardian angel in some cases. I think that overall PvS made the priest a decent mage, with some really nice new tricks in his sleeves.

I see 10 creatures without a pentagram and without any mana crystals.
How do you intend to kill the enemy mage?
If you are going to swarm him, then you need a pentagram. If you are going to melee attack him, then you would want a bear's strength and a vampirism. If you want to kill him with attack spells, then you should have hawkeye. If you want the curses to kill him then Magebane should be included.

What does this book supposed to do?

Seems nice :)

I think that chant of rage is a little too conditional to take 3, perhaps trading one for Lullaby will be more effective.

I've never seen a meditation amulet used without a spawnpoint. What do you plan to do with so much mana and so few actions?

I usually win with my priest. The only reason I will never bring one to a tournament is adramelech warlocks (that just ruin your burning ability).
I usually start with mana crystal + temple of asyra on the first round, and play sort of "melee + support" by bringing enchantments and equipment with my quickcast (and sometimes attack spells or dispels or dissolves or minor heals), melee attacking with full action, and bring a creature every 2 or 3 rounds from the temple.
If the temple get destroyed, then once I have too much mana I bring a big creature with full action.
Usually it works just fine.

"Magma Golem's Burn conditions damage all other creatures in its zone.".

Even if flame conditions do in fact still deal non-typed direct damage, this quote says "all other" not all. If Magma Golem takes damage for his/her burn conditions, you are failing to follow the instructions on his card.
There are 2 damaging effects here - the normal burn rules, and the golem special rules.
the golem take damage from the standard burn rules, and the other creatures take damage from the golem special rules.

The description of a Magma Golem is really confusing.
Let say that it the same zone of the Magma Golem there is a Flaming Hellion (flame immune), an Invisible Stalker (burnproof) and a Knight of Westlock.
The only clear thing is that the knight of westlock take damage from the burn.
It say "Magma Golem's Burn conditions damage all other creatures in its zone.".
so-
1) It doesn't say that the magma golem itself doesn't take the damage, just like any other creature with burn. so should the golem take the damage as well?
2) It does't say anything about the golem's special rule being a flame effect, or that burns deal flame damage, so are the invisible stalker and the flaming hellion take the damage?

If there is anywhere in the rules something that imply that flame conditions deal flame damage, it would make sense the most (and that would mean that the golem and hellion don't take damage while the stalker and the knight do take damage).

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Aggro Forcemaster: Is it viable?

I double the recommendation for flying scimitar, it is another attack of 3 dice.
I run a book quite similar with a fair success rate (lost 1 and won either 2 or 3).
I usually prefer rust over critical strike, since critical strike apply only to the first attack (while usually I attack 3 times, twice with galvitar and once with the dancing scimitar).
I also prefer to double Mongoose Agility rather than Falcon Precision, since in the local meta in my area having defending creatures is more common than having defenses on the mage, and since defenses on the mage can be destroyed by dispel or dissolve.
I don't double poison blood, since purify and remove curse became too common in the local meta I play with. I use only one, and I try to counter a healing spell with it (so my opponent both lose the healing and need to pay the cost of getting rid of it).

I heard that both in 2015 and 2016 there was an aggro forcemaster book that got into he semi-finals. I think it means they count as "competitive".

Personally, I like to have one non-thoughtspore creature  in my forcemaster books. Until recently it was usually a bridge troll or a necroprian vampire, but now with the siren's capability to neutralize single creature I am considering moving to skeleton nights. I didn't try Alandell with a forcemaster yet, but I've heard it is a good option as well.

Smashing things with galvitar is still a viable option, and a really fun one as well ^_^

Unless I play a necromancer, in which case I just know that the only opponent that could take my in a long game is another necromancer, I always have a fast game back up plan with every book.
Having two possible plan s is the beginning of reacting to opponent.
About truly versatile books that plan to spoil the opponent's plan, I make them only with wizards. A gate to voltary book with lots of mana crystals in the opening and lots of spells that their only purpose is foiling the opponent plans, allow me to play a reactive mage that just react to his opponent while building a force of creatures.

There are some spells that are made only for reactions to the opponent, such as dispels and dissolves. Some players also take force hammer to use it as a possible reaction to conjurations.

There was one game recorded by arcane duels where a wizard won a game entirely by reaction when his opponent's book just ran out of useful things-

Mages / Re: Siren Still Hasn't Beaten Paladin

The Paladin's starting book got loads of creatures, and a spawnpoint that can spawn only 2. It is also a melee book that need the full actions to make melee attacks (or activating auras). That means a large portion of the book is just wasted.
To test the Paladin I dropped some things that came in several copies, and put in a temple of asyra, a dawnbreaker's ring, a bear's strength and some other minor things. it is still a testing book and not really competitive, but it is just easier to test all these new things when I could actually use them, instead of just having them in my book without any chance to see the board.

I didn't understand how the hellfire traps combine with all the hydro attacks that extinguish. It isn't even a druid counter since most plants are rooted.
Personally, I think I would have replace 3 hellfire traps and 1 decoy with another hydrothermal vent, another shoalsdeep trident, another surging wave, leather gloves and bear strength. Then it could pass as a melee build (and with so few creatures and so few attack spells, you could kill enemy mages even if they tanglevine themselves or bring boots that make them unmovable).

I don't use OCTGN, but generally I build books by first taking the auto include essentials -  a teleport, a few dispels and item destruction spells (dissolve/crumble/explode/corrosive orchid), with some mage specific essentials (like cantrips). Then I add the spells that I am going to use if everything goes by the plan (if my plan include using a teleport, then it is in addition to the essential teleport). then, I start to think what is my book weak against, and take some counters for that. Eventually, if I had too few spellbook points then I add some more fun in-school things, and if I had too much spellbook points then I drop some spells that I am not likely to use.
