3D Printer Projects

wmcastillo28:
Hi everyone! I'm still a big fan of the game, and will be purchasing a 3D Printer soon. I'm curious and wondering if anyone has done any projects with this game and their 3D Printer. I have seen the alternative Initiative token STL file floating around, and a Token holder, but that's about it. I was thinking of maybe doing 3d versions of our Wall spells, maybe some for our generic Mana Flowers, maybe even some mage models. Maybe a special token to indicate if a Flying creature is flying. Things of all that nature. Just wondering if anyone has already started little projects like this and has any insight on it.

wmcastillo28:
Well it's been about a month and I'm starting to get used to my 3d Printer. One of my first little projects for MageWars was to try and improve upon the Initiative token. Wanted it to be bigger so we don't lose it in the battlefield, and that we will remember to move it every time it's needed. Also wanted to integrate the compass symbol into it to eliminate the need for another token, so it's embedded on the back. not 100% happy with it, but it will do the job and work for now.
My next project I want to work on is a modified status board. Not entirely sure on what or how to do it, so ideas would be great.

wmcastillo28:
Well, I had ALOT of down time at work today, so I was auctualy able to mock up my design for a "new" status board. Below is what I got.
Starting from left to right, I wanted a spot to put my Mage stat card. I put that in, and made it a little deep so that you can set whatever corresponding tokens in with it if wanted. I also put a lip on the bottom so it would be easy to get stuff in and out of it.
Next, to the right of that, is the Health bar. I wanted it in sequence of 5 because it makes it a lot easier to count (imo). I also wanted to round it off to 50. I know it doesn't have a "Max" but have never seen in my games of anyone going that high. I made the Health and Mana portion to have little pegs going in the corresponding slots. It will obviously cover the number it's on, but that should be okay. You will also see below that I made some custom pegs for each item. Heart for health, skull for damage, and a fireball for mana. Health and Mana were made the same. I do have them counting in opposite directions. I also wanted the Mana all the way on the right, being that most people are Right handed, and its the peg that gets changed almost every turn guaranteed.
Next to that, the little box in the middle is actually the Channel status. It isn't going to be controlled with a peg, but is going to be controlled with a dial that is built inside. I wanted to keep this compact, but realistically, you could play an entire match without your channel status even changing. So i didn't want to take up real estate for a status that could possibly not even change. The dial is numbered 0-20.
As of right now, i chopped up the model below with the moving and interlocking parts and have it printing as I type this. I want to check clearances, clarity, and usability first before I do a full print of everything. It will probably take a few weeks because I'm still working with this whole "corona" virus thing going on, but be patient and be sure i'll post it if it all works out and completed!

First prototype printed. Pretty happy with it. Need to do some sanding/painting, but functionally i think it will be great. Please post your thoughts/opinions :)

Little tray for the stat car to sit in. could also put token in there as well. Made with a little lip to be able to pull card out easier. may need to make slightly bigger to accommodate sleeves when I finally get them sleeved.
