Terrain in future expansions?

Would terrain be available in future expansions in academy. It seems like a fun mechanic like Field Spells in Yu-Gi-Oh, Planes in Magic The Gathering and locations in Chaotic. Though there might have to be a terrain destruction card other than replacing someone's terrain.

Academy doesn't currently have any conjurations at all.  I also think that was a conscious design choice.  I doubt we'll see terrain in Academy.

Conjurations shine best with multiple zones. Academy lacks this by design. Also in a low mana environment it is race to be the first to lay terrain as replacing the current terrain, paying for both to replace plus any attachments would be too costly.

Yeah good point. Not to mention we already have zone enchantments, which is probably close enough.

Conjurations were left out of academy as a design choice indeed, however page 18 of the rule book states that they will be in Academy eventually.

"Attack spells sometimes say “creature or conjuration” in the target line. A conjuration is a type of spell that will be revealed in future Academy expansions."

Aaron posted the following on a recent BGG thread that was speculating on the next Arena expansion.


"I'm almost 100% positive the next expansion will have Frost damage spells in it. It's something we originally meant to have back in Druid vs. Necromancer, but it ended up not fitting with the Mage we were making. However, unless something pretty drastic happens I'd expect Freeze/Frost Damage to be in the next set."
