After Paladin vs Siren we will get a Barbarian....
« on: February 04, 2016, 08:06:53 AM »
... if I imagine a barbarian, I think "Conan" he is as far away from at Mage as one can be, it is so to speak the opposite.
It is for me difficult to call a barbarian a Mage :-)I find the idea still cool
A barbarian is a warrior "A man of action" first hit, then ask.
I see him with a big two-handed ax, I think he's War school and, somewhat at home in nature school. The Arcane school he does not master
He should have much life 36-38, and be Tough
a natural magic resistens .... enemy enchantments and Attack Spells cost 2 mana more against him.
Melee Combat Training +1

Dinosaurs are his creatures. A Legendary Tyrannosaurus (T-Rex) Level 5+ would be great;-)

two-handed heavy Ax
fast action, 4 dice Attack piercing +2 Bleeding 7-12
Action, 4 dice Attack, sweeping, Bleeding 7-12
Barbarian only

Whirlwind Attack
With a two-handed weapon your mage can use the fast attack of his weapon to
use as zones attack each creature without flying gets hurt. Dice separately for each creature.
Then use effect dice at a 7+ put a daze mark on your Mage.
War School Only

Dont know what you all have with your barbarian, mage wars is named mage wars. Its not a war in a world. It is in an arena where trained mages fight against eachother. That is a toally different theme. Why should a barabrian enter it? or even be allowed to enter, those mages were trained in the ACADMEY to be allowed to fight in the arena.

Your suggestion sounds much like a warlord just more, though is here, melee combat is here, natural restens is harshforge plate, why should fireballs not hurt with magical ressitance. It is fire, they are not blocked by nullify but be block. Its not magic anymore, mana was converted to fire. And i read too much diablo 2 out of it.

In diablo heros of everywhere come to save the world of the evil. But Mage wars are trained mages fighting in an arena.

Mage wars is a deeper game than just get a weapon and hit something, the whole enchantment games makes it uniqe and gives its own flavor. press on that one.

Rather get an alternative druid, Sorcerer with Dark/arcane ruling the metamagic. Illusionist pretending to be here and there, enchantments here and there, etc.

and lastle, ok he doesnt master the arcane school fine. I force crush him in round 2 pay the extra 2mana to enchant him in the first place and do force holds on the creatures he summons, done what can he do?

The Barbarian is not my idee, he is in work...
Well lisen to "Arcane Duels - Live Chat With Aaron Brosman"... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=081xmQENwV0
its what  "Aaron Brosman" says....

Since I've heard it, the barbarian is notgoing  from my head. Barbarians and "Mage Wars" ????

I have made my thoughts to Barbarian as he could, should be. He will probably come ... Paladin or Bestmaster are not really mages to, only it is clear with a barbarian AW gos a step further, I would probably first go for other mage but if AW thinks to implement a barbarian would be good, why not.
But is clearly a barbarian is with Arcan spells very hard to imagine...

There are many flavors of Barbarians, I would expect, as always, for AW to use the trope but make it there own. Conan may or may not be the model if not they might borrow some aspects from him.

Keep in mind that in Etheria, magic is something that anyone can learn to use. It's not an innate ability that you're born with (although some people have a better aptitude for it than others, just like any other skill). Because of this, I don't see a thematic problem with  all sorts of people learning to use magic, regardless of their cultural background or fighting style. If anyone who uses magic (and not just a magical device) is a mage, then there are a lot of abilities that we don't traditionally think of as magic that really kinda are, such as telekinesis (making objects float in midair), instant inexplicable healing without any sort of realistic medical treatment, tribal voodoo, super-strength (including the berserker variety, because really, getting physically stronger when you become angry is hardly a mundane ability--it's not just adrenaline there.)

Although it is highly unconventional.

As much as I would love something like this...

I know he's not. But he will be amazing, however I'm trying not to think about it too much. I want to stay focused on PVS as I must finish that first.

I look forward to the upcoming, it is nice that in 2016 is a good year for fresh meat in to  the arena.

In Every quest the shaman had a spell "cannibalism" life into mana has converted ...
that would be a good abilitie for him.
abilitie:
As quick action, throws 2 dice you lose life points in the amount of total and you get mana in half the amount, rounded up.

I also don't see how a barbarian could fit at all in this game and I have to agree with mystery. It will have to be really good to prove me wrong ;)

Also, I kinda fear it being a solo/buddy-warlord build.

I had some misgivings about a barbarian initially as well, but I'm quite excited about where he can go.

Also, I kinda fear it being a solo/buddy-warlord build.

If he's built as I've been thinkn' that would be impossible. However, time will tell. He's still a ways off and like I said previously, I'm staying focused on PVS first.

It would be cool if the community, Could be help shape 1-2 cards per set, a contest in the forum.
It would please me, a small part in creativity to contribute
Example let the community make a Sharkman.... or you have made all Sharkmans already??? hehe

I went a little crazy and designed a ton of Deptonnes. I also used a bunch of ideas from our playtesters who had come up with some pretty cool Deptonnians. So in short, I got carried away so there really aren't sharkpeople left to make for this set.

Perhaps on future sets this could be a thing, though.
