Conditions and Sslak
« on: August 05, 2015, 04:43:28 PM »
I've checked a few times in the Orb Guardian segment of the rules booklet, but I'm still having trouble finding the exact location where conditions affecting Sslak/Usslak are addressed. Here's an example: stuns usually last until the affected creature takes an action. Sslaks don't have an activation marker, so do they progress to the next stage of a condition (such as Slam -> Daze) when they receive a new guard in the upkeep phase? When would conditions such as Stun be removed?

not rules. just me:
I'd remove them at RESET and put a guard marker on them at whenever it normally happens(upkeep?).
removing them when the guard marker is placed would be ok too.

There would not be a round where they dont get a guard marker.

Uncontrolled Sslaks would treat the upkeep as the end of their activation for removing conditions and such.

Sslaks don't have an activation marker

Is this true? I have moved along on the assumption that since it is a creature it got a activation marker. But looking at the rules now, they are not summoned.

From the Rules Guide:

Quote
V’Tar Orb guardians are not controlled by any Mage and do not have an action marker or
an Action Phase. They are treated as “enemies” by all players and creatures in the game.

I can understand where you could make that mistake. All creatures have activations. But since no one controls an orb guardian Sslak, no one could turn that marker over.

The funny thing is, that I went back and reviewed the up coming Domination code in the MW module, and I did know this fact but forgot somewhere along the way, as this is how we have it coded in the module already. :)

This came up in our domination game yesterday around the Stuck condition.

We didn't find this ruling at the time.

Perhaps the next Arena Codex update could include Orb Guardians as a Game Term and summarize these rules in that section.
