Hey!  I love the Beastmistress and how she looks. In same why i'm not a fan of how Wizard lady is going to look like. By that i'm don;t want to say that i want more and more "nudity" in a game. I would like to see both: armoured girls but in the same time 'bistmistress like' too.
So far no problem with that at all:)

It's still objectifying even if you only do it some of the time. Either do away with it entirely or put the men in costumes that look like they're from oglaf too.

Looking over the cards(btw didn't we have this conversation like a month ago?) in terms of the Mages themselves I'd say the Priestess and Druid are dressed in a manner that's a little more revealing than you'd expect. The Force Master actually looks fine to me, yeah she's attractive but she's mostly covered. The Beast Mistress I had to think about, my girlfriend wanted to cosplay her at one point and at no time did I say "No hon that'd look stupid" so I guess I got no room to complain there.

In terms of the creatures, I'll point out a Knight of Westlock could be female for all I know. The angels do make me wonder just what kind of after life is going on with Asyra. I mean the fiction says she's a goddess of love but eh....put pants on Valshalla you're drunk. Outside of the angels I can't think of any huge glaring examples of horrible costuming ideas.

What we must all remember is no matter the game we were all newbies at one point.

This is just an hypocritical and emotional reaction - Females have been sexually displayed since ancient greece (and beyond) and somehow I am unable to get why it offends people because its not the picture that reduces the shown human on sexuality, it is the viewer(s mind). IMO one could even go further, the prude fear for nipples while the whole Internet is mostly porn is just double standart. (Maybe i am going to far here but i dealt with issues like this a lot in the university O.o)
Notice how most males are shown as strong and big while in reality many are not? Any big deal about that?

My question about the revealing Priestess was more of a fun way to mock religious values not in any way an appell to the devs "THOU SHALL COVER THY FEMALES OR I BURN MY MAGE WARS STUFF!!!"

I like seeing sexy femals and strong males and do not feel their roles implied on me or struggle with their nudity. Its a game, it should entertain and this, while not being anywhere near the MAIN reason it does, helps to do so :D

I agree that the mage wars art is not THAT big a deal. However, I disagree with you when you say it's not sexist. With FiF there are 7 male mages and 5 female mages. The males are all fully clothed. The Druid, Priestess and Johktari beastmaster are wearing outfits significantly more revealing (although not quite to a pornographic extent). However, the priestess is wearing a long skirt and looks like she's in a somewhat provocative dance pose rather than a battle ready stance. The forcemaster is wearing a corset and the Adramelech warlock is wearing bikini armor and a torn skirt (still covers her private areas, fortunately)—not exactly battle ready outfits. The Druid at least is wearing her vines so she constantly has functional potential weapons and armor (although the alternate art removes some of the vine in her chest area, which is dumb since that might protect her heart and not just her breasts). However, the Druid is also wearing sandals. How does she fight in those?

Also, ALL of the female mages have enormous breasts and most of them have long untied, unbraided hair. (Cast force pull on hair, deal 1 damage).

The fact is that the female mages are sexualized more than the male mages. While that's not a good thing, it isn't completely intolerable. I think they could balance it out somewhat by making more sexualized male mages, as well as including some transgender mages (and the transgender mages better not all be monsters, aliens, spirits and other weird non-humanoid races).

I'm not sure that sexualizing some male characters makes sense as an approach to achieve parity.  The point is more why should the characters be sexualized anyway, what kind oif game do the artists think we're playing?  Everything else in the game is about realism, admittedly in a fantasy context, so why not have realistic looking attributes and attire?

I was just pointing out that females have been sexualized since...ever in nearly all artistic ways, nothing what bothers me in a game.

IMO the males are being sexualized already. All of them seem to be pretty (even the wizard and the orc warlord have their style of asthetics), tall (forget about the dwarf, he too has his asthetics done right) and masculine.

If you follow the InGame-logic the mages have no equipment as they enter the arena so I assume they are even wearing too much on the pictures ;P

Traditional fantasy art depicts woman as beautiful warrior women and men as musclebound badasses. Neither of these images represent the average person from either group in real life. Mage Wars however is a "Traditional Fantasy" game. Hell a great deal of the artwork is even spoiled on the outside of the box to include the controversial Priestess herself. There should be no surprises what kind of artwork you are going to be dealing with in this game. If anyone has a moral objection to traditional fantasy artwork why did they buy the game in the first place? I am not saying tradition is an excuse to do things that may or may not be unethical. However as far as transparency on the subject goes Mage Wars was not hiding anything. Personally I appreciate the artwork and it is one of the big selling points for me of this game.

Sorry for the Necro but as this subject has many threads already I really do not want to make yet another one.

Easy, guys.. I put my pants on just like the rest of you -- one leg at a time. Except, once my pants are on, I win Mage Wars!

Because the game itself is awesome fun. I agree with you that it's not that big a deal. As long as the characterizations aren't too sexist the artwork isn't something to worry about. It's still REALLY annoying though. I suppose it's too much of a stretch to expect any androgynous characters that aren't mutants, monsters or aliens, whatsoever in this game. Ah well. At least the forcemaster looks as bada** as she actually is.

I still think it would be a great idea if people could make their own mage art on a blank mage art card. I can't imagine the dignified priestesses of Asyra actually dressing like that, and not all of them are going to have long flowing blonde hair, clear unblemished skin and large breasts. For once id like to see an Asyran priestess with dark hair and freckles, maybe even a tan, and a chest that doesn't distract from her face, and posing for battle rather than whatever she's doing with her hips in her original art card.

I am fine with this continuing in the off topic section of the forum but IF it turns to personal attack or trying to yell the loudest from a soapbox I WILL SANCTION ALL THAT ARE INVOLVED. >:(

I do not even mind if we make a second thread since this has wondered way off topic.
