Centaurs
« on: June 08, 2013, 01:53:13 AM »
I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right spot, but I just thought I'd voice my desire that Mage Wars include Centaurs at some point. They be my favorite mythical creature. Having a Centaur Mage would be amazing, but I'd settle for Centaur creatures.

I think a Centaur Mage would be awesome.

Mechanically, the new Jokari Beastmaster could have been a centaur: fast, good with a bow, and has a "leading the hunt" special ability.

You're right, they should have made her a centaur. They really should have. That would have been perfect, thematically speaking. In fact, I hope they eventually reprint her as a centaur, it just makes way too much sense. Not to mention all the centaurs I've ever seen depicted ANYWHERE were white and male! It would be good to see some more diversity among the centaur race. Although I imagine a lot of sexist people would start making MLP jokes whenever they see her, at least at first before the depiction of female centaurs became more common.

I am Sailor Vulcan! Champion of justice and reason! And yes, I am already aware my uniform is considered flashy, unprofessional, and borderline sexually provocative for my species by most intelligent lifeforms. I did not choose this outfit. Shut up.

I've seen many female centaurs depicted. Magic the Gathering has few on their cards, and they can be found in some modern paintings and book illustrations. Classical depictions of centaurs seem to always be male, however, and even modern day ones are predominantly male.

I actually really like "tribal" builds. Currently canines and soldiers present decent options for such, but being able to make a book centered around a whole army of Centaurs would be amazing, regardless of whether or not a Centaur Mage was leading them (which I still would really like as well).

Centaurs would be a really awesome and thematically suiting race to introduce to Mage Wars

A planned card was a centaur archer which had SKIRMISH. Skirmish meant you could do a melee attack and then do a move action. There may have also been thoughts about centaur archers with a ranged quick attack.

Are you making this up, or are you violating the NDA?

I never signed an NDA(but i'm happy to sign one and shut up if people will show me all the top secret cards), but i've heard someone talk about these matter on the internets. It may have even been Bryan Pope. it was in a post asking why the quick attack has to be after the movement.

Just for note, the world of Etheria does indeed include centaurs. Unfortunately, we have not gotten to their region yet. However, I'm sure they will happen someday. :)
