Plants (tanglevine, Mana Flower, etc...)
« on: February 24, 2013, 06:57:41 AM »
Mana Flower, Wall of Thorns and others Plants have trait Living, but there is no info that plant is creature also, on the card.
So my questions are:

1) Can I heal them with healing spells ?
2) Does the plant consider as creature and plant simultaneously ?
3) Can Vampiress heal herself after she dealt damage to plant ?; or
Does the creature with bloodthirsty have to attack plant with damage on it ?

I think if Plants don't have creature note on the card, so it cannot be healed and etc.
but they have trait living and that makes me confuse.

The important thing is the Type of card,(Creature, conjuration, incantation, ect.) So even though Wall of thorns has the living trait, its card type is Conjuration. Just because it is living does not make it a creature, so,
1.can I heal them? It the spells target is "Creature"(and so far they all are) then no. Its a conjuration.
2.does the plant consider (it self) as a creature and (a) plant simultaneously? Creature is a card Type, while Plant is a sub-type.
3.Can Vampiress heal herself after she dealt damage to plant ? The trait for Vampiric states: If you deal damage to a living creature. So I would say no.(I'll admit, I had one attacking my wall of thorns in a game, and allowed it, but now after reading it again, I would say no.As with Bloodthirsty, is says "Target creature"
So basically, just because a conjuration is living, it does not make it a creature. It all comes down to card types, and targeting.(Or legal targets.) I hope I have been of some help, and have not just served as more of an confusion!

Page 16, in the original Rule book(the one included in the core game) can help you more if I have not.

I have read the Rule Book carefully and that's I've found in it:

Page 30, fourth paragraph:
" Important: Only Living creatures and conjurations can be healed or regenerate."

and page 41, Codex:
"Heal Healing removes damage from Living creatures and conjurations. See "Removing Damage" on page 30."

So, my questions 2) and 3) now is clear I think.

What's now about healing conjurations ?
Maybe there will be some healing spell that targets the plants in the next expansion ?

so far, (in the core) the only healing spells have had a target of creature.(The casting bar says creature,as wall as the card text) I haven't got the time yet to fully go over my expansion yet, but there is the warlords familiar that takes damage of a target conjuration. I will certainly get back to you about that, if no one else does first. But as for the core set, living conjurations are valid targets of healing effects,(being living) but currently there is no healing effect that targets conjurations.

I think that is because of the Mana Flower...a Living Conjuration that comes with Regeneration on it.

Yeah, there currently aren't any heal spells that can target Conjurations. I'm sure the Druid will have plenty.

It is worth noting that the Goblin Builders ability very specifically does NOT heal - it "Removes Damage". This allows it to remove damage from nonliving objects. (Although technically, the builder can repair living Conjurations too - for example you could use them to keep a Tanglevine alive)
