It's a typo. It looks like the just re-used the description from Academy: Warlock.

The photo is of the Academy: Warlord box though. I'm not going to spoil anything but you can figure out for yourself whether he's trained in Dark. Use common sense.

I certainly hope not. The Paladin vs Siren expansion brought us plenty of good, low-level Holy & War creatures. Arena Warlord needs more good, low-level War, Earth, and maybe War & Earth creatures. Hopefully the Academy Warlord will supplement the Arena (Bloodwave mostly) Warlord's creature selection, making him more competitive with and different from the Paladin and Priest(ess).

While I can't see how this could be packaged in an Academy expansion, I'd love to see a new Goblin Grunt-ish creature (Dwarf Grunt?) with ability "When this creature would receive a Veteran token, it receives 2 Veteran tokens instead." Rewarding it with Melee +2 and Armor +2... that would be something! That's a free* Bear Strength AND Rhino Hide! Might actually be worth it.

well, to make the veteran's more usefull they could just make more creatures like the bridge troll (high healt + strong traits) but are of a lower level. I would also like to se an unfairly strong way to get ahead on the board for the warlords but at some other cost like health, actions or sbp's. So that you always get vet tokens AND get to put them on creatures who will get the largest benefits from +1 armor and melee.

I cannot say anything at this point but it is a real stretch to see arena abilities on academy cards unless the academy mage card also uses those abilities. I cannot confirm or deny the abilities of the new warlord.

I will say that in the warlord academy set release I'm super pumped about the warlord!

this set will flesh out the war school and allow the warlord to be very different than the paladin.

I can't wait till this set is released and or the spoilers for it start coming out, so we can all start discussing.

I too pumped about the new warlord set. I love the new cards and I am sure you guys will too. The new options take the warlord into a new direction and it does flesh out war to make it a very interesting school.

Agreed. That's why I said I can't see how this could be packaged in an Academy expansion.

Hmmm... Perhaps a new grunt might have text like this:

"If this creature has the Melee +X trait with X > 0, gain an additional Melee +1.
If this creature has the Armor +X trait with X > 0, gain an additional Armor +1."

This could work with a lot of buffs in either Academy or Arena (e.g. Wolf Fury, Gator Toughness), as well as having automatic synergy with Veteran tokens. Might be too good though; e.g. also works if there's a [mwcard=FWE09]Standard Bearer[/mwcard] in the zone, and wouldn't add any additional benefit for a Vet token on top of the Bearer bonus.
