Yes yes you can and its an awesome combo.  With the Straywood you can cast three creatures with lair and his quick summoning ability!!! I played one game where I actually ran out of makers for my creatures. I had to check the rules to see if I could summon more.   And yea you can summon more than the markers in the base game.   By that point my friend was being barraged by a swarm of creatures.  Walls were breaking down faster than he could put them up and it was a blast!

Just keep in mind, that you can use both abilities only once per turn :)

Yep which means you get -2 mana on creatures for the round.   With lair you basically get a steelclaw cub, or asp for free.  Than you could summon 2 more for normal 4 mana each.  It's pretty nasty combo.

Ring and faerie does not provide discount when lair is casting a creature.

Most rings only benefit the mage. When they do help spawnpoints its specified like necromancer ring and Warlord Ring.

Yep i know, but it is good info to know for others to know it does not get the discount with a lair.

I was mainly considering the Extra mana from the lair is a +2. For your spawn point.  So total four extra mana considering lair, ring, faerie combo.

Which you pay two from your Mage +2 from your lair giving you a cheap creature.  You have to have Wychwood fairies in Your zone plus use your ring to get the -2 cost for a animal creature.  So in essence you are getting two cretures for 2 mana each.  Then you would have to spend full amount on next creature if you have the mana to do so.
