Incorporeal Wizard Build (Air)
« on: October 21, 2015, 11:42:23 AM »
Hello! This is my first time posting an spellbook. The main theme of this is to use incorporeal creatures and conjutarions, with support for yourself. The Huge problem here is the Upkeep cost for everything. Please, let me know how to improve this spellbook. Thanks for the help :). (ps: I was also going to add a Raincloud, but don't know what to remove, maybe 1 jet stream and 1 lightning bolt?)

I don't know why you are running 6 Jet Streams, but if you do, you may want to include some Walls of Thornes, so you can push them through.
You do have Hawkeye, Elemental Wand and a Tower, but you only run some attack spells, that don't dish out enough damage. Maybe add Hurl Rock/Boulder or a Fireball to throw some dice.

The thing is that I have a Theme (incorporeal). Yes, I thought using the wall of thornes so I can use the attack with it (Jet stream and Whirling Spirits), but I think is better if I use a Fire wall, but it cost would be 4. With the Hurl Rock/Boulder, it's an excellent attack, but I can't see those in the theme, but the fireballs fit perfectly. Of course, the Wizard Tower and the Mana Cristal aren't incorporeal, but they are at least Arcane. what else do you think I should change?

BTW, thanks for the help :).

Sticking to a theme can be a lot of fun, but it can cause some troubles. You might get serious problems with a Forcemaster and the ethereal Galvitar, which cuts through a Mana Siphon like butter. But your theme can be really dangerous, as many mages do not carry enough ethereal attacks to deal with all your threads.

Wall of Fire is much less dependand on zero armor than Wall of Thornes is, so it can be a nasty surprise. Stacking some burns can certainly help. With Jet Stream on the Tower it might even be a double push, even though it requires some positioning.

You only run one Storm Drake Hide, one Elemental Cloak and one Rhino Hide aside from Brace Yourself. That armor can be stripped off quite fast with Acid Balls, Dispel or dissolve. Without an interceptor you are vulnerable to attack spells after that.

With 4 Crystals, Moonglow Amulet and Harmonize you run a lot of channeling boosters. Do you run all of them? In general, what is your plan in the first rounds with this build?

I don't think you need both Regrowth and Regrowth Belt. If you want to have 2, I would suggest to include the Belt twice. When you use an enchantment and an equipment, your oponent won't run out of either dissolve or dispel.

1) Yes, I know that the forcemaster will crush me xD. That's why I have the Grey wraith, the put weak tokens with their attacks... unless the kill them first xD.

2) Wall of fire is more thematic, The problem is... what should i remove? Each of those cost me 4 spell points (wall of fire is fire lvl 2)

3 & 5) Maybe repeating the Storm drake hide? or Rhino hide? Well, Storm drake cost less in the spellbook, so I'm going with 2 of these. Same for the belt.

4) I need the channeling for the upkeep cost of the creatures, the all cost 1 upkeep.

Here's the update:

Have you ever played this build? How many creatures did you summon in your games? It's hard to believe that you are able to summon all 6 of your creatures while paying upkeep and defending your mage. If you need to free spellbook points, think about reducing your Grey Wraths, that's 6 points each!

You are lacking unavoidable attacks at all, how do you plan to deal with threats like Fellela, Huginn or Cervere? Relying on them to fail their defense rolls will probably not work. Maybe Arc Lightning will work. It is unavoidable, has a chance to stun and fits the theme perfectly.

I would suggest to play some games and bring back fresh feedback on this build. But be aware of Wizards, they have an ethereal Zap!
