Okay, here's how the Origins tournaments will work
For the Origins Mage Wars tournaments the following rules are in place.
The tournament will be held using standard Swiss rounds.
Only cards printed in the Base Set or the Forcemaster Vs. Warlord expansion are legal.
Match time limit will be 75 minutes
Each night the tournament will start by breaking players up into 8-man groups. The winner of each of these groups will qualify for the Sunday Origins Championship tournament. These will be held in a standard Swiss-style tournament.
Any player who qualifies for the Sunday event may play in further events, but should they win the qualification will go to the next lower ranked player.
Should there be open seats for the Sunday event as of 10 minutes after the prescribed start time, then additional players may be seated according to their standings during the Qualifying rounds. Starting from the highest non-qualified player and working down from there. As of 15 minutes after the prescribed start time no further seating will be done.
For the swiss rounds
End of time procedure is as follows. If the time limit has run out while a match is still in progress, that match will finish its current round. If no winner has been decided after that round has ended the match is a draw.
For tiebreakers for the swiss standings the following will be evaluated in order:
- The points accumulated by the player through wins and draws
- The ratio of wins to losses by that player
- The average ratio of wins to losses by that players opponents
- The combined squares of the rounds that player lost in
