Signet of the Dawnbreaker Ability Question
« on: December 24, 2017, 09:38:38 PM »
So this card says when you kill your challenged enemy, gain valor equal to its level.
Does you mean the mage or anyone on your team?
The Phoenix shall rise.

As Zot says, 'You' is always the mage, and also, only the Paladin can gain Valour.

I thought that there was a conjuration that can gain valor tokens also... three of them gives all friendly creatures melee +1, if I remember correctly... Temple of Meravian or somesuch maybe.

Yes, that's true, but they are effectively a completely different Valour token. It's like Gate tokens, Charge tokens, Mist tokens, Wrath tokens, etc. They just reused Valour token, since they were already providing them with the set. You are right, that it does confuse what should be a simple and absolute point though...

In a team game where there are 2 Paladins, only the Paladin, who has the ring in their own ring slot and who killed the creature would get the Valor.

I thought that there was a conjuration that can gain valor tokens also... three of them gives all friendly creatures melee +1, if I remember correctly... Temple of Meravian or somesuch maybe.

Yes but the Valor tokens on this conjuration and the Paladin's Valor tokens are TWO SEPARATE pools. Due to this these pools do not interact at any point, nor can either pool be used to pay the costs of the other.

I never suggested that they ever interacted... just that something other than the Paladin would gain Valor tokens.

No and I realise this, however I felt this was the most likely next question to arise and headed it off before it came.
