idea is to turn one drop minds eye and then hit them with mana siphon. haven't really planned anything past that. thoughts and feedback are appreciated?

I don't think it's a strong play. The Syphon costs you 12 mana, an action and 6 sbp's and it will take at least 6 more rounds to even this out manawise.
The Syphon will be at most two zones away from the enemy mage and any Ethereal attack can take it out in about two rounds.

Overall, I'd say you're just shooting yourself in the foot here. Honestly, I would love to see you make that play as an opponent :)

Not sure about Mordok's Obelisk either as that's going to put an upkeep on your spores.

2 Teleports, Purge magic : you have a lot of expensive out of school spells there.

If the Syphon is destroyed by round three, then what ?

if siphon is destroyed on turn 3 they have probably invested more actions and mana to get rid of it plus thats 1-2 etheral spells not used on me or my minds eyes. by the time they have killed it i have thoughtspores out and another minds eye and will be hitting them with attack spells. on the other hand they dont deal with it and because im using the minds eyes and thought spores, im too far away for them to get too me.

mordoks is primarly swarm tech and it wont be cast but if i do psi-orb will pay for the upkeep on the thoughtspores.

i never build a book without purge (except warlord) because i have lost too many games due too not having it. and i will probably cut one tp for a couple force pushes and lesser tp.

Depends... Examples :

An opposing FM can just double-move in the Syphon's zone on R2 and QC Bear Strength.
On R3 QC Galvitar and swing 10 ethereal at it for a likely kill.
So at that point it has cost him just 4 mana and a full attack but the Bear Strength and Galvitar are not wasted actions nor mana imo.

A Paladin can basically do the same thing using his Sword of Radiance though it will likely take him one more round.

The Priest's basic attack has the Etherial trait. With A Bear Strength the Syphon should not last beyond round 4.

Light of Dawn also seems like a nice counter option for all Holy Mages.

The Wizard needs only put on his Hawkeye and Arcane Zap a couple of times to remove it.

Other mages may have a tougher time taking out the Syphon but I still would advice caution.

I can only speak for myself in this case but most of my books contain a [mwcard=MWSTX1CKE02] Divine Might[/mwcard] to deal with potential Incorporeal issues if I don't have an in-school answer to it.

mordoks is primarly swarm tech and it wont be cast but if i do psi-orb will pay for the upkeep on the thoughtspores.

I understand, but it's also another 15 mana that you have to pay upfront.
Your opponent can pay the upkeep of a swarm of 5 creatures for 3 rounds with that amount and still break even manawise.

i never build a book without purge (except warlord) because i have lost too many games due too not having it.
If it works for you, then by all means use it. ;)
For me, it's in none of my current books anymore as I think that any book that has a reason to fear Purge will be prepared for it. Nullify/Enchantment Transfusion/Wardstone. Defensively, Remove Curse will usually do the trick just as well for far less sbp's.

I would love to see the book in action though.
Have you used it in the tournament already ? ( recorded ? )

I played a game with it this morning ( lost to a swarm straywood) and made some changes to it, I will post the updated version later when I get off of work, this version is trying to do two things at once and it doesn't work. I dropped the thought spores and am going to do the dot/fatigue strategy instead. Also will change the opening for the fact that you are right so unless plan to defend the siphon turn 2 then I need to play it a bit more defensively
