How Many Condition ?
« on: October 13, 2014, 06:58:38 PM »
Hi, I need a clarification on a rule of the game:
how many tokens of the same type of condition  can be on a character at the same time , such as burns or weak ?

Only 2 or more ?
Because if more, whit creature such as Gorgone Archer ( http://forum.arcanewonders.com/cards/MW1C18.jpg )I can weaken too many times and too easily my opponents (i use mage arcane and my friend warlock, and already with 2 conditionI easily block their game)

Thanks

There is no limit.

And in fact you should stack the same tokens even those with seemingly no extra effect such as stun, for the times when the opponent wish to remove it/them.

with the Weak markers, you can stack them, but the will never fall below ONE ATTACK DIE when they enter combat.

I really think the Gorgon archer is OP in the Apprentice Spellbooks.

i know the at min is 1 attack die...but 1 attack dice vs an armor is't strong...

Whit the gorgone archer is too easy put a weak condition...now i play whit a maximus of 2 weak condition and it's very strong...
Without limit is very OP...and i play 2 in my deck <.<

It's not good...

I do really like Gorgon Archers, but they aren't that difficult to neutralize once you know how. Purify will remove all of the Weak conditions on you in a single spell cast, and Healing Wand can remove them one at a time. Both of these are Holy, which can be painful for a Warlock, but it is possibly still worth including one of them.

The best way to handle the Gorgon, however, is to simply get in her face and not let up. She can not use her ranged attack if she is in the same zone as her target, and her Slow trait keeps her from running away without major support from her Mage. As long as you don't let your opponent keep a Mage Wand bound with Teleport, then simply focusing fire on the Gorgon with melee attacks should remove the threat really quickly.

You can also put up walls to block her Line of Sight.

If you do get a lot of Weak on you and you can't remove them, I would recommend getting out another creature to threaten your opponent with. Possibly use Enchantment Transfusion to change all of your buffs over to the new creature, if you have that expansion.

I love the Archer as well. I wish there was more than one of them in the core set. I had tried to put her in to many decks, but I struggle with the 8 spell points, if she's not in the wizards book.

I just think she is overpowered when playing with the apprentice books. You are so limited that the weak markers are difficult to remove.

The last time I encountered one in a match I force pushed her into a corner and walled her in.

yes, but purify how many copies do you have in the grimoire if you aren't priestess ?
2 or max 3 ?
Gorgon Archers can weak every TURN.

Only priestess are strong vs gorgone, the other ?

Keep in mind that Weak is a poison condition. If you're non-living then you're immune to it. So, running nonliving creatures really makes the Gorgon less worthwhile. Also, making a Mage Wand of Purify would be awesome against it as well.

The point is there are many things you can do to deal with the Gorgon, ranging from Sleeping it to Banishing it. Just have to keep your options open.

You need to use another action to use the spell bound to the mage wand.

Of course, how many times do you need to cast Purify against the Gorgon? Once should be enough in my experience before you manage to neutralize her. My preferred method is simply killing her with melee attacks. She can't apply weak tokens inside the zone she's in. You can also put up walls, banish, sleep, and all sorts of other neat tactics. She's not overpowered at all once you know how to deal with her.

my last game:
gorgone attack -> 2 weak condition to enemy
enemy mage use purify (many mana) and move creature (but only one, i used Suppression orb ;) and i used mana shiphon to my enemy  )
in my turn i attack whit gorgone-> 2 weak condition :D

and i create a teleport trap where is gorgone and a knight of westlock (yes i use it in my arcane mage :D ) that is in guarding

Gorgon Archer is a good creature. I am really glad you are enjoying playing with her. I'm not going to comment on the game description you posted though. My main point is that there is no unbeatable strategy or unbeatable creatures currently in the game. Everything has an answer to it. So, I could post some suggestions to address your game, and then you'd probably post your counters to my ideas, and we could go back and forth to infinity. It sounds like the game was pretty well progressed already and your opponent was already at a disadvantage though.

I would recommend discussing strategy with your opponent and ways in which he can beat your book if you want to help him improve or if he is getting frustrated. Every game I play, I go back over it afterwards and we discuss where the loser could have done something different to perhaps have changed the outcome. You might also try switching spellbooks. Playing each other's books really helps you to familiarize yourself with their strengths and weaknesses. Getting to know all the different mages and strategies possible in this game takes time and experimentation.
