Rules Discussion / Re: force pull through Mind's eye

Yea agree minds should pull towards minds eye.  I don’t think it breaks the game having it work that way and makes minds eye more deadly.  I also agree thematically it makes since that way.

General Discussion / Re: Most Interesting Academy Expansions for Arena?
« on: November 25, 2018, 09:30:51 PM »
http://www.spellbookbuilder.com. Is a good place to check out what cards are in each set.  Just hit the set u want to look at and it will show u all available cards In that set.

As far as academy sets I suggest pick the mage u are most interested in playing and you pick out that academy set.  I am a fan of all the academy sets and think they provide a lot to each Arena mage.  My favorites are academy warlord, wizard beastmaster Core,  and the new academy Druid set.  Again all are pretty good tho!!!

Also welcome to the community!!! :D

Mages / Re: MW Academy Druid and Elementalist announced
« on: November 16, 2018, 11:26:01 AM »
not to put arcane wonders on the hook here.  they needed to reprint them because of some quality control errors due to typos, and some misprints on cards and tokens.   All were found and noticed by players at gencon during prerelease.  Someone at AW dropped the ball.  Hopefully we will see the new sets soon.

General Discussion / Re: trying something else...

Not that I will be playing less Mage Wars anytime soon.  But a game that I have been really interested in playing and trying out is KeyForge.  It is much lighter but I feel the concept fits one of the biggest things I like about Mage Wars is that all you need is the base or core set and you can start playing and play at a competitive level.  Each deck is different and unique.  While there is no deck building I think the variety and styles of play is going to be very interesting, fun, and competitive.  I think it just released here in the U.S.  It maybe out in other countries already prior to today.

Sounds like a fun match with both players having some cool ideas.  I enjoy this format of story telling and detail here there about the damage.  I like the idea of double healing Wands that heal during upkeep.  Helps with support and dress up actions.  It would be interesting to see this with either an animal kinship build, fellella,  or a battle forge.  Seems really strong and paring it with other spells to passively heal, guard,  and helping ur mage out sounds like it would be a really solid build

Alternative Play / Academy Druid and Elementalist Graduates
« on: October 30, 2018, 02:08:28 PM »
Here are the next two Graduates of ACADEMY MW.  They have kept their current ability and training.  They also have learned a new ability or two to help them in Arena.  Hope you guys like.

Joktari Druid 33, 9
120 SBP, trained in nature, and lvl 1 water

Herbalist

Vine Mastery

Druid starts with 2 vine markers, During upkeep you may pay one mana to place an additional vine marker on your mage.
During deployment you may move vine markers onto an a zone or adjacent to a zone containing your mage or friendly vine marker. Gain 2 more vine markers at end of deployment.

Vine Slash

If you have vine markers on your mage gain Vine attack

Quick 0-1 range 2 attack with 7+ snatch
You may destroy a vine marker on your mage to give it a +4 to effect. And roll an additional die.

Vine Shifting:  once per round, May destroy a vine marker to give a friendly creature in the same zone One effect for the round:  +1 melee, +1 armor, heal 2

Elemental Lords Elementalist 30, 10
130 SBP, trained in air, earth, fire,, water school, living objects cost triple, even if Novice.

Elemental Emblems

Elemental Charge:  Whenever you use an fire, earth, air, or water attack spell on a friendly creature of the same school you may deactivate one glyph of same school type to remove damage instead of adding damage from dice rolled of the attack to the creature.  Roll ignores resistance and immunity to a particular Element; Effect of attack does not resolve.  Attack Card is discarded regardless if it is bound.

Spells / Re: Buffs and Counters to Killer Bees
« on: October 23, 2018, 07:29:09 AM »
I will change the wording but I listed those as multi attacks.  And put them up on the counters list along with my are listings of cards for counters.  Triple and double strike are very effective and are very strong counters to swarms.  Note you need Gravikor or eagle wings to kill the bees with many of the creatures who have these traits

Yea reverse attack only prevents first attack and it would only do one damage even if first attack was buffed up. The key is is would prevent the buffed up first attack if any melee dice were adding using marked for death, bim.  Etherian life tree would just add more attacks.

The only Card that really does the full damage for first strike would be eye for an eye I believe.

League / Tournament Play / Re: Indianapolis Mages Wanted

Fun games and another good time at Zots!!! Frost Siren has gotten better and I’m working in on fine tuning it!  I got six frost tokens stacked on the mage for 12 damage.  Burst of frost is pretty sweet and can be deadly.  Got a lot of solid games in too help round out some of my books.  Jbuzzsaw force master is pretty awesome,  loved Toms builds too especially the Joktari crab book.  Zot had his impressive solid builds as well all which were very tough. VictorE Necro and Wizard are still doing great as well.

Cool problem solved.  If someone wants to argue for it please give your reason.  I’m totally fine with enchantment transfusion not working on swarms.   :)
