League / Tournament Play / Re: Pittsburgh Mage Wars 2.0
« on: July 22, 2017, 11:58:58 AM »
I'm not a regular player but I really like Mage Wars and would love to play it more. I'm part of Western PA Gaming we meet at Settler's Ridge Market District on Fridays and Kings in Canonsburg the first Friday of each month. If you'd like to play some Mage Wars let me know!

Thanks!

It's only for casual play, because Spiked Armor is only a promo still, but I wanted to run both Spiked Buckler and Spiked Armor for a Warlord book, and didn't know if they could both work on the same attack. Not sure yet how useful it will be, but I am gonna try it out.

I have another question from a new player, what happens if a Mage has a damage barrier as well as something like Spiked Buckler.  What would be the result if that Mage was attacked? Would both the damage barrier and the Spiked Buckler trigger from the attack?

Strategy and Tactics / Ranged
« on: December 14, 2016, 09:36:33 PM »
I am pretty new to Mage Wars so please keep that in mind. It seems like many builds I see shy away from ranged creatures.  Is that because it is too easy to close the gap on ranged creatures? And if so, could a build with range and cards like Tanglevine, Quicksand, Force Push, etc be viable to keep the distance between archers and the targets? I really like the Warlord and know he is not one of the stronger mages outside of Dominiaton, but I was just curious about this. Any feedback is appreciated as well as any hurdles to this sort of strategy.

League / Tournament Play / Southwestern PA players
« on: January 01, 2016, 03:47:50 PM »
Hi, I am a gamer from Southwestern PA, about an hour south of Pittsburgh.  However I work close to Pittsburgh and regularly game in the area.  I am wondering if there are any other Mage Wars players in the area.  I am a beginner and have only played a few times, but I would love to start something up that is semi-regular.  I usually game on Fridays and sometimes Saturdays, so if there are any other players in the area post here or PM me on BGG my username is Parliament there as well.  I would be open to doing starting spell books and providing materials for other beginners or doing constructed spell books with other players who also have invested in the game.

Thursday afternoon works for me.  Want to try to get a table near the AW section of the gaming hall?

Since there seems to be a good number of people that want to play maybe we can pick a time and a hall with some space and try to set up a place where Mage Wars players can go to play during the convention.  In previous conventions I have found there to be a good amount of space in the TCG Halls.  I'm not that good at coordinating things but I'm sure as a group we can figure it out!  I'll be in Indianapolis on Wed night but probably won't be at the convention center until Thursday morning.

I will be going to Gen Con but unable to play in the tournament.  I was wondering if there are any other players that would be interested in meeting up to do some casual games.  I am pretty new to the game and have only played a few times but am interested in playing more and learning about the game.  If anyone is interested let me know!
