Because my math skills are poor due to the lack of proper math teachers in Straywood. Forgot the Mage Wand is a 2 cost and not a 1. It's correctly counted in my spellbook. Sorry bout that, at work and mildly distracted. Thanks for catching it.

Mages / Ok so I went to the Darkside, tried out Warlock
« on: January 10, 2014, 01:44:58 AM »
So after my Beast Master got turned into mince meat by my roommates Force Master(whom I have named Darth Spiral) a few times I decided to go over to the forces of evil and try out a Warlock as I heard you could set people on fire with it and frankly that seemed very enticing after my animals kept getting turned into fur coats. Oh boy was this ever fun! Wee Wall of Fire! Wee Fireball! Hooray for Cloak of Shadows! Hahahaha burn stupid Thoughtspores burn!

I have since adjusted my Beast Master with new spells that should hopefully keep me from getting gutted on the arena floor, but I'd just like to say I loved the warlock so much he's now my official secondary Mage and I look forward to offering up my opponents mage soul for whatever dark diety is feeling hungry. I'll post the spell book later.

I feel as though wands are a very useful tool in any mages book. I generally play Beast Master and my spell book is of course filled with creatures. I do keep a Mage Wand and an Elemental Wand on hand however with a few spells to let me adapt to a situation as need be. Mind you I'm paying 6 points to keep them in my spellbook but then I like to keep my options open as that's my play style.

However as a Beast Master I've found that a large group of hungry critters is a fantastic way to bring down Harry, Dumbledore, or any other "Potter Duel" you'd care to name. Hehehe trying producing a Patronus when there's a grizzly bear mauling your face!

Do they really? Learn something new. Been playing this game for a little over a week btw.

Alexander your creatures certainly look good but why the multiple copies of the Totems?

Mages / Re: Paladin x Siren x Shaman x WHO?

@Laddin

I thought it was because we are Takin Care Of Business or is it because we  know when to hold 'em. Know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away. Know when to run.  :P

One banana sticker for the Gambler reference.

That got me thinking that it'd be cool if we got a Bard in the future and it looked like Kenny Rogers.

Thank you Zuberi! Now assuming I have the mana can I extend a wall twice?

Strategy and Tactics / Interesting use for walls.

So last couple of games my roommates been beating me to death with his Force Master through use of the Battle Forge spitting out Equpiment left right and center. Is there anything that would stop me from casting a LoS blocking wall around the thing so that it couldn't cast the equipment spells as it wouldn't be able to see the Force Master? He generally leaves it on the back wall near his starting zone. Barring that I'm gonna create a penalty box, teleport his mage inside of it, then go smash the forge. I'm sure there are better ways of going about this but this is what came to mind.

You know Sacred Ground is a really good idea actually Aylin. So is Fortified Position(and hey it's not like I'm using that Warlord stuff anyway.) That's a clever idea thanks!

I honestly don't know which way to go with beastmaster if that makes any sense. I guess my best description is I want to bring out a ton of animals and keep buffing them. My current spell book is somewhat generalized so I'm not weak against any particular one thing that I've seen so far. The Lair and Fellela help with my current goal there. Is there anything else I can do to help me send out a wave of super beasts?

Honestly I have been sort of trying to be prepared for everything which I admit isn't always the best plan. So far the Forcemaster has started trying to rush early and that was annoying but I managed to hold them off with the walls for a bit while I regrouped and brought out some bigger guns like my pet timber wolf and Redfang. I guess I could spam cheap defenders to act as speed bumps.

What would you recommend I add/remove to deal with the early rush? I admit most matches my opponents have built up for about 4-5 turns so far. Thanks for bringing that up Aylin.

Hello all first I'm loving Mage Wars. Been playing just under a week with my roommates and friends. Currently I have access to the core set, Druids VS Necromancers and Forcemaster VS Warlord. We all decided to focus on different mages so I choose Beastmaster. This is my current spellbook and I'd love some constructive feedback. Note Battle for Kumanjaro is coming to the apartment soon.

Once I get some more cards an extra Ring of Beasts is getting put in for sure. Also Harmonize is being used by the roommates or else it'd be in here too.

Thoughts and suggestions? Like I said I'm brand new at this game. Right now I'm fighting a Priestess and Forcemaster a lot. The Necromancer is also being used.
