[mwcard=DNJ12]Vine Tree[/mwcard] is Epic so you can't have two in your spellbook.

Also correct me if I am wrong but I believe walling off your Vine Tree would mean that it can no longer cast spells using the Vine markers since there is no longer LoS between them, so that seems like pretty bad advice to me.

If you set up the wall like this:

V  Y  Y

Then your tree still has LoS to the 'Y' spaces, allowing you to cast vines there from it. It's not ideal, but it's better than having no tree. Against Warlock it might be worth going into a defensive posture and waiting it out though. The best thing about the Druid is that she's so dynamic; switching from offensive to defensive or vice versa is much easier than with other mages.

If double fireball became common though, Guardian Angels would probably find their way into more Druid books.

U can use bloodspine walls which don't block LOS and then your can't wall off your tree.

That doesn't prevent a double fireball at the tree.

An extended Wall in front of the tree would also shut down the 2x Fireball attack, effectively wasting your opponent's turn.

Plus if the attack failed to kill the tree it'll be back up to full in a few rounds (with a wall in front of it to protect it for a while), and you'd be out 16 mana.

Overall it's not a great strategy.
Don't forget the Burns on the Tree and the Wildfire Imp..........the Druid will not like the tool box of the new Warlock....

If the 2byFireball is successful and the tree is burnt down early, I find that most of the time the Druid is really at a disadvantage and will Fall quite easily......

The burns aren't likely to kill the tree, since you can regenerate it and transfer 2 damage to your mage before taking the Burn damage.

My point is that it's an easily countered strategy (throw up any wall that blocks LoS, cast an Intercept creature turn 1, etc.) that puts you in a horrible position if it doesn't work. It's effective if it works, though I think the risk of failure is too high.

The General's Signet ring makes me think that we'll see more discount rings for the mages we already have... !!!

Hey!  I love the Beastmistress and how she looks. In same why i'm not a fan of how Wizard lady is going to look like. By that i'm don;t want to say that i want more and more "nudity" in a game. I would like to see both: armoured girls but in the same time 'bistmistress like' too.
So far no problem with that at all:)

It's still objectifying even if you only do it some of the time. Either do away with it entirely or put the men in costumes that look like they're from oglaf too.

Arlemus,

The difference between the Warlord and the 2x Grizzly Forcemaster book is that the Forcemaster book has been built, tested, and performs quite well. When you can come back with with a Warlord book that is actually effective against other players of a similar skill level, and can prove this, then we'll talk.

Obviously that's an unreasonable position.  At this point I'm realizing my arguments have been falling on deaf ears.  I'm merely saying that taken in context, the detriments the Warlord has are at least cancelled, if not overcome, by his access to a relatively nice set of in school creatures.  Also, there are ways to get rid of/negate enchantments besides the end all be all Dispel.

Arlemus, you're being ridiculous.

The Warlord is terrible for many different reasons, one of which is the triple Arcane cost. It is not the only reason.

The biggest reason is that the War school is so incredibly weak compared to any other major school! All those War incantations you like so much? Everyone one worth using is level 1. Every. Single. One.

So could you please stop turning every thread into, "The Warlord isn't weak, all of you just don't know how to play correctly!!11!"? We've all gone over why the Warlord is underpowered and needs buffs dozens of times before.

Now, FiF will change how the Warlord ranks. They're adding things to the War school to address nearly every major concern, so after it's released the Warlord might be a force to be reckoned with. But until then nobody is going to take a Warlord book seriously unless you can give some hard evidence that we should. Saying that the Orc Butcher is the cheapest creature with a 4-dice attack and it works as long as you spend all your quick actions buffing them for one turn isn't going to cut it.

From my experience, the planning phase is what drags the game out the most.

Edit: This sort of reminds me of the Iron Golem being a bane to the forcemaster. If the Warlord manages to get this out against the warlock, since its burnproof and most of her and her creatures attacks are fire based, she is going to be in trouble.

Most outposts have Flame +2 though, so the Warlock can fight against it before it hits the field. Forcemater vs Iron Golem...not so much.

Sure, it's entirely worse than extinguishing yourself with a water spell, but they cost you triple anyway.

There is not a single released mage that pays triple for Water spells.

The Wizard doesn't pay triple for any spells, and the Warlock only pays triple for Holy spells.

You know Zuberi Combustion COULD be a small bit of deliverance for the Priest against the new Warlock. Run in and smack her as hard as you can, put the burn token on, then use Combustion to get her again as a quick cast.

It's not perfect obviously, that's 5 mana for a 2 dice attack with no effects but still it's an option.

That clearly subpar action isn't an "option" any more than me stabbing myself in the foot with a box cutter is an "option"; sure it's something I could do but it's so incredibly bad it isn't even worth considering.

Pillar of Light is also a 2-die attack (3 with ring), and has the possibility of dazing/stunning. On top of that it's in-school.

Well honestly it is more the wardrobe appearance than anything else, looks like a dress. Other than Scotland that is not a typical clothing style for males North or South American. I find all of the objections, objectionable but that is just me and we don't need to spin this well tread ground yet again.

Oh yeah....

I think the fact that there is a female creature that isn't incredibly sexualized in MW right now is the most surprising thing I've seen all week.

I agree that their outfits are unpleasantly sexist, but I didn't think they were porno outfits. Do outfits worn in pornos typically look like that?

I was exaggerating a bit, though I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the outfits were very similar to actual porno outfits. Druid springs to mind.

Being aggressive is the only way to play Mage Wars. If you never attack or damage your opponent in any way, you will lose every time. If you do damage your opponent, then you are by definition being aggressive :-P

Zuberi, by aggressive I was referring to "aggro" books instead of say, control.

As every afternoon, i was meditating in my room to reach Enlightenment. Suddenly i tought came into my mind:

Between all the humanoid like forces of Mage Wars, is there only 1 (!) girl ... the Royal Archer!

"Oh wait" you gonna say now "there is more". Yes, but i do not count the mages in here. The Archer is the only female creature.

Untrue, as many have said.

You can tell which humanoid creatures are female because they're wearing ridiculously skimpy porno outfits instead of actual armour. That applies to the mages as well (with Druid the most egregious).

Quote
What could a female do on the battlefield? Maybe fight? Yes, but of cou[r]se support the fighters.

So you're assuming that women can't be fighters? Wtf?
