Player Feedback and Suggestions / Re: A variant that plays faster
« on: February 05, 2013, 04:13:39 PM »
I think a good faster game could have: Starting at less life. Or each mage channels twice the mana and takes four cards in the planing phase.(this should mean more damage dealt and more "big" creatures out on the field.)

That is great! thank you for letting us in on all of that! I was going to try a kind of- Your mage is a player character and I am the Game master kind of thing...Im glad you are working on that! I was going to use some sort of set goal to be accomplished before X happens system. Me and my friend are going to try and use minis and a map as well. Setting the cards to the side and having the range of spells be x5,(so 0-2 is 0-10, movement would be 5 squares) There is a lot you can do with this game. I haven't been this excised since second edition AD&D.

I love the fact that devs respond on this forum.

Devs...hell, we have the creator of the game responding to us! I got to say, as a father and a gamer this man Brayn Pope (aka:Arcanus) is a true inspiration to me. I fell like I could try and do something important if he could. They are doing the best job in listing and responding to there fans, and I could see only the best coming from it. Its not only a good strategy for a company but I think they really do care about there game and us for playing it.

Thats with any binder like this...I have ultrapro/MtG/monster ones, They all at some point go in reverse. I just made a habit of slightly pushing the card up with my thumb nail from the bottom of the card. For some reason, they are all like this from all manufactures.

The monster ones aren't, not at least the ones I have. Each page is double sided and loads from the side.

mine dont! that sounds cool! Mine are pretty old. Are yours newer?

If it really drives you crazy, you could always buy a 3-ring binder book and put the sheets in yourself. The have some nice ones at retail sites online. There not the awesome MW ones but....If its a OCD thing.

What I'm wondering is the reasoning behind switching the side the card slots open halfway through the book?

For me it would be a lot more convenient and easier to add and remove cards to the book if all the pages were facing the same way

General Discussion / Re: Long Turns and Game Length Limitations
« on: February 03, 2013, 06:40:34 PM »
Well, I would hope they would make a rule for tournaments like they have in MtG tournaments, and that rule is "Stalling" If you suspects a opponent is stalling, you call a judge. Here are the offical rulings.
Definition
A player takes longer than is reasonably required to complete game actions. If a judge believes a player is
intentionally playing slowly to take advantage of a time limit, the infraction is Cheating — Stalling.
It is also slow play if a player continues to execute a loop without being able to provide an exact number of
iterations and the expected resulting game state.
Examples
A. A player repeatedly reviews his opponent’s graveyard without any significant change in game state.
B. A player spends time writing down the contents of an opponent’s deck while resolving Thought
Hemorrhage.
C. After 3 minutes into a round at a Pro Tour Qualifier, a player has not completed his shuffling.
D. A player gets up from his seat to look at standings or goes to the bathroom without permission of an
official

Novice spells never cost extra even if its not a school the mage is trained in....I get 120 for all.

I bought two core sets so I could have plenty of copys for each spell, but it really isnt needed. I come from a CCG game that if you play a spell, you almost HAVE to have x4 in your deck...I now know you really dont want x4 of the same spell in your tome for mage wars, so I dont think its really a problem. You could also trade with friends or make a lone list like me and my friends will do with any kind of card game. I am happy overall by buying two core sets,(Even thou I really want the spell books from the core spell tomb, maybe they could sell those on there website with the other ones.) But regardless, I got both core sets for $80, I spend $80 in the blink of an eye for ANY other game....I am very thankful to Arcane workshop, after I lost my job I thought I would never get to play a game like this again,(there are others out there, but they dont scratch that itch you know?) So you are not going to hear any complaints out of me...Keep up the good work!

Player Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Expansions

Great Ideas! I REALLY hope that there is x4 copys of each spell....As much as I enjoyed purchasing two core sets, I hope that it isn't necessary for every expansion just to get x4 copys. I know you really dont NEED x4 of every spell, but I like to know I'm not limited in my tome building....
