General Discussion / Re: Who has received their expansion? Thoughts?

Also:  In the three games we played last night (first ones ever with the expansion), using the preset starter books, the Forcemaster won pretty easily for everyone who played it.  While this is likely just a local play group statistic, does anyone else have simular findings?  At least with the starter books?

I'd be curious to hear more opinions on this as well. My opponent made the mistake of getting to close to me, and I think that's a REALLY bad idea against a FM. You really want to play keep away.

We played our first game last night, and I was playing the FM.

Here's what I did:

- Thought Spores allowed me to WRECK the Warlord. I put Force Wave on one and Invisible Fist on the other. With Wave my opponent made the mistake of putting out that Wall...and I proceeded to push his soldiers through it

- Opening equipment: Dancing Scimitar and Force Ring. You've got few discounts in the starter book, so the ring helps. The Scimitar is AWESOME. At the very worst you make the Warlord waste time and mana dissolving it. It's an extra 4 dice OR a free melee defense.

- Charm. Most of the Warlords creatures are lvl 1-2, so it's cheap to slap on his goblins. The upkeep isn't all that bad either. It's also 2 range, which is nice.

- Damage Shield: It's just one more thing to stack on and stack it on you must. So that means with the Spore, 4 dice + 4 at worst with Galvitar + 4 from the Scimitar + 6 more from a Force Hammer. The answer is yes, I really did all that in one round, and I did a double strike with Galvitar, so it was 18 dice against the Warlord  ;)

I opened Spore + Ring, putting fist on that spore. Next round I Spore + Scimitar, putting push on that spore. Personally I think that's a great opening.

After playing the Forcemaster I'm curious to see the other side of things, but I REALLY like the FM. The only issue is that if you do something like the detonate on the suicide gob, it's not hard to take out the spores. I also feel like the FM is a slam or two away from getting swarmed and in a bad position as well; but the latter is what the personal shield and scimitar help you try to avoid.

General Discussion / Token Pack

Are the token packs available to FLGS's yet? Their availability was announced before the expansion yet my local store isn't able to get them from their distributors yet.

There is just something about Caltrops in general that gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

That they're not limited to 1 per zone is making me want to try a pile of them in my spell book.

Locus remember that

An object may never have multiple conjurations with the same name attached to it. A zone may never have multiple conjurations with the same name attached to it. :P

No pointy zone of death for you

GAH! You're too right.

You COULD however caltrop a zone and put a Poison Gas Cloud on it for double pain.  Can pretty much ruin a Lair.

I'm now thinking of caltrops as the preverbial straw. I still like them, very much.

I think I'll be putting this idea into action with my set. I love the idea of the see through markers :)

Does anyone know if the actual forcemaster or warlord have been spoiled yet?

Yes, they were in a pod cast online.  Someone summarized the spoiled cards there: http://zacgaming.wordpress.com/2013/01/15/forcemaster-and-warlord-previews/

Thanks for this. It's got some stuff that I most wanted to see, namely the mages themselves.

Speaking of eyes, what is that eye symbol in the attack line?

Nice. I can't wait to see what other autonomous cards are in store! The sword is an oldie but goodie from my D & D days.

Also, did anyone else read Frylock instead of Psylok? It's even a similar shape and shooting lighting from it's eye...

Man I love goblins and this one is really wonderful. I'm also digging the design of that Warlord ring, visually that is.

Two new books will be most welcome.

One concern I have is that the arena has already been kind of nebulous. How big are these "temples" my priestess summons? And now were adding "towers" and such to the mix?

But I can deal with it.

Are you referring to scale?

Looks like there was finally some real progess on the deck builder over on Card Game DB. I found this in their forums. Drew's still tweaking, and you won't find this link at the top of the page under the MW drop down.
