Maybe something to think about for later down the road, but you could even see if Reaper Miniatures would be interested in doing a "Mage Wars" line.  No very useful at the moment other than a substitution on the board with cards off to the side.  Could even find a way to use the cards to play a miniatures tabletop game if the boardgame achieves a certain level of popularity. Just thinking.

abaddonbooks.com is another publisher with some interesting authors.  Could also contact some of the Black Library people on their own sites to see if they have any interest.

By the way, you guys probably need to get a demo copy of the game to the guys at beastsofwar.com.  I'd also get someone to put some articles on tabletopgamingnews.com if you can.  Those two sites have a crazy amount of readers.

General Questions / Re: Teleport and LOS
« on: October 14, 2012, 03:27:49 PM »
Well, I like the spell but I'm hoping that a Teleport Self spell comes out that does not require LOS. It seems like Teleport would be good for getting out of a walled-in corner, but the current spell does not allow this.

Ok, I'm a little confused. When if ever can you teleport through a wall?  The Teleport spell requires LOS for the destination and since every wall so far blocks LOS, then you can never use Teleport to bypass a wall unless the wall does not block LOS or your creature moves like a Gremlin and never mentions LOS. Was this intentional or a byproduct of set targeting rules?  I almost feel that this spell should ignore LOS as the description of Teleportation in the book never mentions requiring LOS.

Custom Cards / Re: Ballista

You could use it with one soldier, but fire every other turn. Big combo but big damage. Should have a range of 2-4.

Would love to see some novels.  You might check with Solaris Books[map][/map].  Several authors over there that might be interested.

Custom Cards / Ballista
« on: October 13, 2012, 12:10:32 PM »
Perhaps a Ballista could be a conjuration that has an attack of 8 but also requires the d12 roll with 1 - 8 miss and 9 - 12 hit. But it would have a ready marker that can only be used if a soldier creature spends a full action to use and can only get the marker refreshed by another full action from a soldier creature. Have to form a crew to operate. Could be the same for other warmachine types also.

Custom Cards / Builder or whatever
« on: October 13, 2012, 01:08:59 AM »
It seems to me that there is room for a creature type that gives it's controlling caster a mana reduction for conjuration spells targeting the same zone that it is in. Helping to build or create so to speak.  Maybe even an Engineer/Shaper familiar that can cast conjuration spells.

General Questions / Re: Equipment
« on: October 11, 2012, 01:06:21 PM »
I'm beginning to think that this issue needs to be explored fully. According to spell control, only the caster controls the spell and can use the spell. That says to me that if you cast an equipment spell on an enemy mage that you are only taking up one of their hand locations. The enemy mage cannot use the spell and has no control over the spell according to spell control. Even an allied mage would have no use for the item. I believe that we could probably use an addendum or FAQ entry to address this.

It only reduces the cost to cast the spell, not to reveal it.  Basically makes every hidden enchantment that the mage casts cost only 1.  Reveal cost gets no discount.

Spellbook Design and Construction / Re: Online spell book builder?

While I would love to have access to the cards in a digital format, I can see that people would be all too tempted to print their own proxies.  This can kill the sales of the game itself as people would just make their own cards and would have no need to purchase anything, especially if their friend already has a copy of the full game.

As soon as a creature has damage equal to their life, then they die.  This is immediate.  They don't linger until the end of the phase.

Just a side note, but you cannot make three move actions with Fast. You can still only move a maximum of twice. It just lets you take a quick action after moving twice. This quick action cannot be another move however.

Custom Cards / Clumsy Giant
« on: October 09, 2012, 09:43:54 AM »
Clumsy Giant.

Would be kind of cool to have to cards to represent the Giant, a left foot and a right foot.  Summon the left foot to an empty zone only (for massive cost), then immediately summon the right foot to an adjacent empty zone for free.  Empty zones because he's afraid to step on anything at first.  Then during activations there would be a d12 chart to determine which player controls the movement of the creature foot when it is activated with the controlling player having the option to spend mana to affect his roll.  Automatic damage roll versus everything in the new zone.  If the two feet are ever more than 2 spaces away from each other, then the giant has tripped out of the arena and both "Feet" are destroyed.

Could be fun.
