General Questions / Retaliate
« on: March 16, 2013, 05:40:28 AM »
So Paleblue asked this over in the Warlord thread but I didn't see an answer to it and I have been wondering this as well. Should the enchantment Retaliate have the command subtype?

General Questions / Warlord and Forcemaster built-in spells

I would assume that the Force Pull and the Warlord's Battle Orders do get the discounts from the Force and Command Rings, correct?

General Questions / Hail of Stones and Wall of Pikes
« on: March 12, 2013, 08:48:26 PM »
So yeah, something else came across my attention while looking over the cards. Neither the Hail of Stones, nor the Wall of Pikes's attack include the Unavoidable trait. Going by the rulebook both should be unavoidable (as zone attacks and passage attacks have this trait) and I wouldn't even think twice about it except that all other cards have redundant wording. That is to say, they specifically call out that traits that they are understood to have. All other zone attacks, for example, have the Unavoidable trait (and there doesn't seem to be an issue of room on the attack bar of Hail of Stones) and the Wall of Fire, and Wall of Thorns specifically got errata to specify that their attacks are unavoidable. This leads me to wonder if there is something up with Hail of Stones and Wall of Pikes or if they are to be treated as per the rulebook and have the Unavoidable trait as well?

General Questions / Mordok's Obelisk not a mana conjuration?
« on: March 12, 2013, 08:13:25 PM »
Hey, so with the FAQ just out I figure I am probably not correct but shouldn't Mordok's Obelisk have the mana or metamagic subtype? It does make people have to spend mana for their creatures, after all. On top of that, the Suppression Orb is a mana conjuration and the two are quite similar.

Rules Discussion / Ranged attack and flying
« on: October 25, 2012, 12:38:14 PM »
Alright, another question that occurred to me :P So a flyer in the same zone as an archer is fair game (representing, I would assume, the vertical distance). Shouldn't that also work when you give an archer the flying trait? I realize the rules as currently written do not specifically allow for that but going off of the assumption that things in this game make sense, I was wondering if that might be something to consider :)

Spells / Samandriel
« on: October 24, 2012, 06:52:45 PM »
Hey, so today I was subjected to the full glory of Valshalla and after the game I thought I'd look over her competition - Samandriel to see what she's up to and something caught my eye. First of all, Samandriel's attack starts marginally better but quickly gets outpaced by Valshalla's. Second, her effect roll is inferior - she stuns on an 11+, whereas Valshalla does on a 9+, and thirdly and most astonishingly - Samandriel is light immune. At first I thought - well that's cool, she's just better in a mirror match but then I flipped through the codex and saw that she is in fact immune to all light spells and effects, which kinda means she can't be healed (and also not sure about those +1 armor tokens from the crown) ... Did I get that right? From where I am sitting, she is seriously inferior to her more electrifying sister and still costs the same in both spell book points and mana. What is up with that? :p

General Questions / Bloothristy & Taunt
« on: October 19, 2012, 10:45:25 AM »
Hey, so I asked this question on BGG as well but it's been slow to receive responses so I'm going to try here as well. If a creature is Bloodthirsty or has been taunted is it forced to attack the requisite creature in it's zone before even having the chance to move or does that only kick in after having moved? The BGG thread received two answers - one each way - so I am hoping for more opinions and maybe an official clarification. Thanks!

Player Feedback and Suggestions / Card distribution in future products
« on: September 14, 2012, 01:55:14 PM »
Hey,

I've had this on my mind for a while now so I thought I'd put it on here so people can comment and maybe even to get some official feedback from the designers. Basically my concern is the following: I understand why designers make starters the way they do in terms of card distribution - this is a gateway product that is meant to be self-sufficient and offer a reasonably full game experience at a good price. Once the line moves into expansions, however, dedicated fans would want a good way to obtain a full set of the possible cards as they are released. So my question and hope is that expansions would come out with at least the auxiliary option of getting a full set of cards in some way other than buying said expansion x3 for example. I'm not saying that every product should offer this but rather that for every expansion that comes out it would be really great if we could have a Spell Tome of sorts that includes the missing spells for a complete set. I am saying "of sorts" because the CST is far from that mark. I was genuinely surprised when I saw that it included 1's of most cards and 2's of several. I opted for two complete core sets but I don't see myself doing that for every expansion.

I hope this sparks some discussion and maybe the people who can actually make these decisions can weigh in as well! I am still waiting on my two core sets to arrive and I can't wait to play. I am incredibly excited about this game, which is why I am raising my concern now - I really want to keep liking it ever more and supporting the team behind it with my continued business!
