Events / Arnhem Event

11th of December at Vendetta in Arnhem, The Netherlands is the "There can be only one" event. Only one copy of each card can be used in your spellbook. Apparently used in some other game but new for me. Looking forward to it.
I already have a cunning plan. Who wants to come and try and take me down.

Not all mage wars is in the u.s.
In europe we play su day afternoons with a revived mage wars group at vendetta gamestore in Arnhem.
On your way to Essen? Pop in for a fireball in the face or a grizzly to the groin. How about a mana worm to drain that excess energy. Our mages are lining up to take you down.

Mage Wars Academy / Melee and Armor +1 Counters

Hello all,
In watching a number of videos I see people using dice to show these. Please note that the back of the dissapate counters have melee, armor, charge and wish counters on them.

So updating from the last dead thread. Will Arcane Wonders or Mage Wars be having a meaningful presence at Essen?
Pegasus will be present and I presume that there will be demo games among their mass of tables, ...
BUT....
Is there any official event or apart competition or perhaps a purely mage wars stand, table, ambassador, door, sticker, badge, banner or anything?

Rules Discussion / Resources, card errata and codex need updating

Hello Arcane wonders,
On the resource tab of the site the card errata needs the new wizard tower added to it. Also the codex, though a great resource and help was last updated in may of 2014, before Forged in Fire came out. Can this be updated as well.
Also the academy Priestess and Warlock rules need to be added to the list as well.
Hope to see the updates soon.

Strategy and Tactics / Warlock experience asked for

Wow, this demon summoning is tough. Who has had sucess with this guy and his demons? Any good tactics out there as he keeps taking a beating by the Priestess, and Beastmaster, and Wizard. They are all lining up to give him a good hiding.

so, have now played a couple of games with the starter spell lists with the Warlock. He is a very difficult mage to play with. Has anyone had sucess with him? Using the starting lists?

Mage Wars Academy / Counterstrike

Does the Ridgeback skunks ability to stagger count as a counterstrike? It happens during the counterstrike phase but I am not certain if it counts as a counterstrike. I see this being an issue in two cases,
1. If we get damage barriers,
2. If the skunk attacks a guard and the guard uses his counterstrike to hit you back. I know counterstrikes do not trigger more counterstrikes but I assume the counterstrike counts as a melee attack so should get a stagger from the skunk. ..... unless this is a counterstrike.

Mage Wars Academy / Missing Definitions

Hello all. The codex in Academy neglects to explain vampirism and Aegis. Would it be right to assume it is the same as in Mage Wars Arena?

Was wondering if the kits have stopped. They were fun but seem to have ceased.
There was a problem that any prizes from them, the promo cards could not be used in official competitions but that only applies to the USA so the rest of the world did not care.
Also it was Always a shame that we would vote at the end and Never ever hear any result of them or see that it had any influence on the game or story. A shame, that would have been a great feature as in helping decide which expansion came out next or writing the story for the future.

Was wondering how the extra two mana works. What if you are targeting an object on the mage? does this also cost two more or is that not counted as the mage? Would a dissolve on the plate cost two more?
